ALT Superintendent Woods on legislation increasing educator personal days: "Securing five personal days for teachers and classified staff was a key legislative priority for the Georgia Department of Education this year, and has been since 2023. I am thrilled to see this legislation move forward – just as student mental health is a core concern, the mental health and wellbeing of our educators must be at the forefront as well. I wish to thank the General Assembly, particularly Rep. Brent Cox, for authoring the original legislation during the 2023-2024 session. The collective efforts from Chairman Chris Erwin, Chairman Billy Hickman, Senator Shawn Still, and Senator Bo Hatchett made this legislation a reality and will greatly support Georgia's hardworking educators. I deeply appreciate their support of Georgia's educators and am hopeful SB 148 will soon be signed into law."
