“It is next to the SCHOOL, THE PLAY AREAS and that is really raising the anxiety of the community.”

"MINISTER YET TO VISIT PLANNED SITE FOR ASYLUM SEEKER CAMP"

RAF Linton-on-Ouse is not NEAR our village. It is IN it.
The entrance is in the village. Homes share boundaries with the site. A toddler park ADJOINS it, separated by a wire fence.
1,200 male asylum seekers are proposed here.
They will be IN our village.

Anna Turley a key decision-maker on plans to place 1,200 asylum seekers in our village of 700.
Thousands have contacted her. Residents, a Labour MP & our County Councillor invited her to visit.
No response.

There’s a new artist on the block #ousey with a great eye for detail and a sense of humour and irony. Hits the nail on the head though. #wrongplanwrongplace @ukhomeoffice @annaturley @ShabanaMahmood @charleshymas @AllisonPearson
“All parts of the country need to play their part.” — Andy Burnham
We agree. But fair share must mean fair share.
~1,200 asylum seekers in a village of ~600 adults is 2,000× the national average
Why does Linton have to play such an enormous part?

ONE ROAD. ONE ENTRANCE.
The only road through Linton-on-Ouse is the sole access route for the proposed asylum centre.
A flood-prone route to York. A 7.5-tonne limit and single-track toll bridge to the A1.
This road cannot cope.

Growth. But not as you’d imagine @LintonAction #wrongplanwrongplace
Children from Linton sent drawings to Shabana Mahmood early in the campaign. They’re still waiting for a response.
🏫 School bus stop: 160m
🛝 Playground: 260m (toddler park just meters)
🏠 Child’s home: 660m
This isn’t an “empty RAF base”. It’s their community.

Staggering figures!

Housing asylum seekers at a former RAF base could cost more than £500 a night per migrant, a campaign group has claimed @LintonAction @northyorkspfcc @NYorksPolice @visitnorthyork @o_matthias1 @PoliceInspForum @AlecShelbrooke @PiddingtonRoars telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/08…
