(1/n) Excited to share our new preprint! We uncover that RNA actively promotes nucleation and function of pathogenic condensates, amplifying locus-specific oncogenic transcription and promoting tumorigenesis. #epigenetics #condensates #cancer #RNA biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Departmental trainee seminar kickoff + Outstanding Publication Awards! Congrats to postdoc winner Diqiu (@junwei_s lab), and graduate student winner Krista from my lab! Read Krista’s paper on RNA-reinforced condensate nucleation cell.com/molecular-cell/full… @Penn_CBIO

And that's a wrap on 'Transcription and chromatin'! 🧬✨
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for a few days of great science, inspiring discussions, and plenty of opportunities to connect.
From exciting talks and lively Q&As to fantastic poster sessions, coffee break conversations, and catching up over social events, it was wonderful to see the transcription and chromatin community come together again (it was #EMBLTranscript 17th edition!).
Thank you to all the speakers, poster presenters, and participants for sharing your research, asking questions, exchanging ideas, and making the meeting what it was. The science was impressive, but it was the conversations, connections and community that really brought it to life 🙌🏼
Already looking forward to the next edition! Until then, keep the discussions going 🤓🫶🏼

Good news from lab: Congrats to Steph on a T32 award; Qinglan on a Marlene Shlomchik Fellowship in Cancer Research; Amba & Amanda did an excellent job presenting posters for summer projects; and Krista on defending her thesis and becoming our first Ph.D. graduate! 🎉 #PoundPI
Four inspiring days at the FASAB Biological Acetylation in Health and Disease Conference in Porto. Great science, stimulating discussions, and wonderful interactions with many colleagues, old and new. Looking forward to seeing everyone again in 2028! #BAHSRC

@kjarmache and I have tailored this meeting around the unique basic and translational science in our field, addressing both challenges and new opportunities in moving mechanisms to successful drug development. Join us and reach out if you have questions!!
A short but wonderful visit at UCSF - thanks to Xiaokun @ShuLab2010 and Danica for the invitation to share our work on #epigenetics #condensates #cancer and to friends (old and new) for the great discussion! And so glad I made it home before the snowstorm shut everything down
Congrats @Amgen @jaybradner and Dark Blue Therapeutics! Exciting to see ENL/MLLT1 biology advancing toward therapeutic translation in AML - a great example of how basic chromatin biology can inform new treatment strategies.
Thanks Bruce @LifeSciVC. Time cannot move fast enough to bring this brave idea and prototype medicine to patients with AML. As a stem cell transplant physician, I am well calibrated to the challenge AML patients face. All learnings, insights and leaders at @Amgen in ALL will be accessible to this amazing team of innovators.
Check out the 2nd version of our preprint “RNA reinforces condensate nucleation on chromatin to amplify oncogenic transcription” and feedback welcome!

Excited to present our work and chair this #aacrpediatric25 session focusing on mechanisms in pediatric cancer. Great lineup including @TheRobertsLab1 @FilbinMariella highlighting emerging concepts in #epigenetics and #transcription dysregulation and how to target them!
Mechanisms Underlying Childhood Cancer:
Charles Roberts, Mariella G. Filbin, Liling Wan, Susu Zhang, and Alexander Zhang addressed this topic in a plenary session at the AACR Conference on Pediatric Cancer Research.

(7/n) We propose that pathogenic condensates exploit RNA to reinforce locus-specific nucleation and amplify transcriptional programs that drive disease. This may set them apart from normal condensates which may be more sensitive to RNA-mediated negative feedback.
