Being upset with fans who don’t like Lanterns is interesting given all the great Green Lantern content of the past twenty years. Imagine an eight-episode series about Peter Parker working as a photographer at the Daily Bugle, never suiting up as Spider-Man. He uses his web-shooters four times, while Uncle Ben is villainized as a white old-school racist. “With great power comes great responsibility” becomes “With great skills comes great humility” or some bullshit. “But it’s character-driven! It’s world-building! It’s setting up future seasons!” Those excuses can’t substitute for delivering the character and concept people came to watch.
