The WOKES stole this from us.
Liz Truss claims the U.K. would have managed successful missions to Mars within years — if only her 49-day premiership hadn’t been cut short. vist.ly/5pyyb

“Then there is the case of Norfolk, Virginia, where a British general recently took command of Nato’s Atlantic headquarters in September. To date, Britain has filled 44 of its 71 posts there. The ministry’s tepid response to this is that its fill rate across Nato is among the highest in the alliance. I wondered whether there has ever been a more meaningless metric. Back in the real world, if we cannot staff the commands we ask for, at what point do we stop being given them?” “So how do we unpick this long-standing mess? First, consequences. Nobody in Main Building or the front-line commands has ever lost a job for presiding over this ritual, and the single services are not innocent: each protects its own headquarters and sacrifices its own capability. A few sackings would concentrate minds, “pour encourager les autres”, as Voltaire had it, even if the execution he alluded to might be a little extreme.” “A friend of mine summed it up succinctly: “The pushers of this ‘jam tomorrow if we can just take a bit of famine today’ theology are now amongst the highest ranks. A theology which is clung to despite several iterations of proven failure.” Grim, but unarguable.” “So long as it remains in the Treasury’s interest to run defence year by year and the decision makers that could force this to improve either fear anything that challenges the status quo…[or defence itself], then nothing will change.” “Next autumn there will be another round of cancelled exercises and another speech about a war footing. This cycle of cuts and waffle is about the only thing in British defence right now that is reliable.”

In 2005 we had 20 frigates. 3 sold without replacement 4 scrapped without replacement 8 decommissioned 2021-26 before their replacements were ready, because we built ships for a 18 year service life, then took a 20 year gap in frigate orders, and take 10 years to build new ships

This is of course a national scandal. There’s almost no navy.

An oldie but a goodie. In 1968 a bunch of entitled hippy bastards sent a letter detailing their specious demands to the Warden and Fellows of Wadham College, Oxford. This was their letter of reply, which speaks to how far the academy has since fallen.

Fun fact: in Disney’s Trilogy, the First Order is based on the Nazis that fled to Argentina and the resistance is lead by a strong woman. Ere go, the Disney trilogy is about the Falklands War

Another 2 T23s going over the next few months…
Concerning... "Industry insiders have told @NavyLookout that two more of the five remaining Type 23s will almost certainly have to be declared unseaworthy in the next few months [while delivery of the new Type 26 & Type 31 frigates seemingly continues to slip]."

Lovely idea but.... Ship building isn't a tap that you can simply turn on and off, water pouring out as soon as you turn it on. There are lead times for structures and sub-systems. @BAES_Maritime has given @DefenceHQ several options to speed up T26 over the past yrs - turned down
I agree with @NavyLookout - with frigate availability set to worsen further "The only credible solution is to speed up the delivery of Type 26 and Type 31s." That's exactly what @KemiBadenoch and I first proposed back in May, using the cash from Labour's stalled Chagos deal to fund the plan. So it's disappointing to learn from @NavyLookout that the Government have rejected this idea. With the Budget looming, the Chancellor needs to think again and finally set out a clear path to 3%.

Perhaps they like trudging around in wellies and going shooting with aristocrats because it’s fun, and not much more explanation is needed than that? Is that really so hard to believe?

North Trump Treaty Organisation (NTTO) or North Trump Ocean Treaty Organisation (NTOTO) ?
Donald Trump has revealed that he told Google to rename the Atlantic “Trump Ocean”. The US president said when he called Sundar Pichai, the tech firm’s chief executive, with the proposal, Mr Pichai pleaded with him to drop the request. 🔗 telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2…

A group dispatched by Hegseth's team in February attempted to move the historic globe, said to be used by Eisenhower during World War II. They lifted it from its home in an Army office in the Pentagon ... and dropped it.

"Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, a decision that sparked panic in Kyiv and confusion inside the Trump administration, U.S. officials and people familiar with the matter said. Both Musk and President Trump have expressed anger at Ukraine for attacking Russian diesel refineries in recent weeks, which the president blames for high energy prices. Last week, Musk capped the speeds at which Ukrainian hardware could stay connected to the satellite-based network, the people said, rendering some offensive drones and interceptor drones virtually useless." @jdawsey1 @alexbward @natalieandrews wsj.com/world/ukraine-starli…
