Brookfield Public Works Director Lauren Moore and her staff invite the public to get a behind-the-scenes look at our Public Works facility during a special Open House event on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, from noon to 3 p.m.
Meet the Public Works team at this free family-friendly event, tour the facility, get up close and personal with all of the big rigs and specialty vehicles, and learn about all the things Public Works does to help the Village keep running smoothly.
Village staff will also be on hand to provide information and answer questions about the 2026 Roadway Referendum.

East Avenue will be closed to traffic at the 47th Street Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad crossing from 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 through Tuesday, Oct. 20, as IDOT & IHB crews complete scheduled work there.
In addition, Tilden Avenue in LaGrange will be closed at the BNSF railroad underpass on Saturday, October 17, as BNSF Railway crews complete scheduled work.
Tilden Avenue Detours:
Northbound traffic: Detour at Cossitt Avenue and use La Grange Road.
Southbound traffic: Detour at 31st Street and use La Grange Road.
Please avoid the area, if possible. Allow extra travel time and follow posted detour signs.
