The DC Council has been catering to landlords, but the industry keeps demanding faster evictions and fewer tenant rights. From @CMRobertWhiteDC's remarks at a Housing Committee hearing yesterday.
“Setting deadlines for the court, while at the same time piling on new processes and opening the door to a flood of eviction filings, is not realistic in practice and certainly would not make things move faster,” Legal Aid's Elena Bowers told the @washingtonsun.
Just a year after The RENTAL Act was passed, dozens of landlords pushed the D.C. Council this week for speedier evictions to help pull them out of an economic “death spiral.”
