If you have federal student debt, you may have recently received an email from the Department of Education telling student debtors who are in the SAVE forbearance to switch plans.
We want to encourage you to not rush this next step.
Take a deep breath. You have until September.
There is an entire system designed to profit off of our debts. They have squeezed every penny they can out of us from health care, housing and education. Our incarceration, our food/groceries and our transportation. Now they want to profit off of our desperation. It's sick.
The SAVE student debt plan is ending.
This is shameful — and we stand by its unlawful erasure.
The student debt system is a nightmare — and we want to help you navigate it.

We need full student debt cancellation. Every single student debt should be cancelled. It's all illegitimate.
And we need Democrats demanding its relief — not trying to normalize its existence by ignoring the suffering of 40M people.
We have a crisis on our hands.
One of our members kept trying to make a student debt paymen—but the servicer, MOHELA, keeps rejecting the payment.
Yes you read that correctly.
They will *not* accept the payment. They literally deny the payments and return the money.
When we called the servicer to ask why...
...the servicer said they are denying the payment for "various reasons."
They won't explain any further.
MOHELA recommended the student debtor *switch banks* and try making a payment from an entirely different bank account.
!! An entirely new bank account to make a payment.

What is Trump's plan for $1.8 trillion in student debt?
A reminder that one of the hesitations Democrats had with canceling student loan debt is they said Republicans might insist Dems were trying to "buy" votes. Something to think about.
"Here is my promise, if the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the U.S Senate, both of them...because of our tremendous strength and success economically I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000."
