A remarkable life, of which those 3 mins, 59 seconds only constituted an element. Sir Roger embodied a simpler, cleaner era when sport was a pastime not a profession. Things have changed. But not the esteem he’s held in. Now, more than ever, his example & philosophy resonates. xitter.cf/bbcsport/status/970258…
Sir Roger Bannister, the first man to run a mile in under four minutes, has died at the age of 88.
