EUROPEAN RECORD A truly sensational run from @lauramuiruns as she sets a European two mile record in New York 🔥 The Brit clocks 9:04.84 and although she finished behind world U20 5000m champion Medina Eisa, the Ethiopian was disqualified 🇬🇧 After her 9:04.84, @lauramuiruns is now second on the world indoor two mile all-time list 🌍 @lauramuiruns also went through 3000m in 8:31.44 💥

It's always sad to see an athlete retire not on their own terms. An amazing career, that 14:35 5000m and 4:17 mile are hugely underrated. Pleased I was there for the latter! Also, this run in Berlin in 2020, the day after a 1500 PB. Here's to the next chapter @LauraWeightman!

1/5 A day that has come far sooner than anticipated, but I must sadly announce my retirement as a professional athlete. I’ve had a very challenging few years dealing with a number of injuries, surgery and extensive rehab.

4/5 I will always look back and be proud of the career I have had. I can’t even imagine telling the 13 year old ‘me’ what journey she was about to embark on! Sport really is so much more than the medals and PB’s. It’s the people and places it’s taken me that I’ll never forget.

5/5 I will be forever grateful to those around me who have made this journey possible. Too many to name, but they know who they are. This won’t be the end of my involvement in the sport I love so much. I hope to continue coaching and supporting the next generation!
