It's underrated how much Trumpism has made the Dem/GOP Wonk Gap permanent.
In 2012 the gap was tolerable. Smart center-right wonks existed.
Now 90% of the young GOP pipeline is groyper-level podcasts. It's going to be *decades* before there are good right wing wonks again.
