I first heard of Stan Musial in high school when I read a biography on him during study hall, and I've admired him ever since, not just as a player but as a human being. He was beloved by teammates, competitors, media and fans for his all-around excellence. This video explains his brilliance and symmetry.
The last part explained the latter perfectly: In his first game, he got two hits and the Cardinals won 3-2. In his final game, he got two hits and the Cardinals won 3-2. And those two hits resulted in this extraordinary fact: 3,630 total hits -- 1,815 at home and 1,815 on the road. No wonder why he will forever be known as "The Man."
I never met him when he was on earth, but I hope to meet him in the next life. Enjoy the video:

The sixth episode of "Classic Clashes" will premiere at noon ET tomorrow here (youtube.com/@inthiscorner), and it will pit Larry Holmes and Lennox Lewis at the Hilton in Las Vegas, where both actually fought.
This series has evolved from show to show, and this episode will feature many new elements, including a new opening theme, graphics, and several other surprises that will be pleasant to the eye AND the ear. But what won't change are the "eyes" and the analysis offered by @SmittyBoxing and the @CompuBox breakdowns and historical perspective I provide.
It'll be a fast-paced yet informative and entertaining look at two of history's best heavyweights. Don't forget the channel's "Four Commandments": Like, Subscribe, Opine and Suggest. By the way, it's free to subscribe to the channel. Enjoy!
I never had the pleasure of meeting Mike Ditka, but one of my innumerable seatmates on flights was someone who played against him during Ditka's high school days. This fellow was on a powerhouse team that beat up on everyone, including Ditka's school. But even then, he said, there was something different about Ditka, and he went on to show us all his unique qualities throughout the rest of his life. A larger-than-life figure has left us. Rest in peace.
Who do you think would win a prime vs. prime match between Larry Holmes and Lennox Lewis, the pairing for our next "Classic Clash" episode:
52%Larry Holmes
46%Lennox Lewis

Actually @Noirchick1, I drove out of a movie because I watched it with a buddy at a drive-in. I don't remember the name of it, but it was a Bond film with Roger Moore and neither of us "got it."
It probably wasn't a "bad" movie; in retrospect, we figured that to fully appreciate what we were watching, we had to have watched previous films. We weren't those guys. The concession stand food was good, though. :-)
