No success is overnight. My team @TechpointAfrica went to Aba and slept at the Bus Park Hotel to feature the work Chibueze is doing, 10 years ago. I'm glad @Shalom_HeyEliy came out of that.

@LearnFactoryNG was one of our speakers @TEDxAladinma in 2017 when we hosted the first Standard TEDx event in South East Nigeria. They helped build our website too. Congratulations to them. They have been there for a while!

This is amazing! Africa has incredible talent, and stories like this remind us of what’s possible when we give young people the right opportunities. Would love to connect and explore how we can help scale this even further. 🚀👏🏿

The creator of the now-popular Nigerian game Lagos Life, which attracted over 2 million players within days of its launch, began her tech journey in Aba, Abia State, at LearnFactory, the technology company founded by Chibueze Ukaegbu.
Shalom Rayhamen’s story highlights the talent emerging from Aba and the role local tech training can play in preparing young people to build products that capture attention far beyond their immediate environment.
From Aba to a game played by millions, her journey is one worth telling.

This babe has been putting in the work since forever, una say na “vibecoder”😂
Coming from the trenches under a horrible Okezie Ikpeazu & succeeding deserves special accolades on its own talk more what she’s done.
Thank you so much! ❤️
My journey into tech started at Learn Factory.
When I was desperately looking for an internship and others said NO to me, you said YES. Even though I didn’t meet all the requirements to join, you still gave me a chance.
That one YES changed the trajectory of my life, and I will never forget it. Thank you for believing in me when I was just starting out. ❤️
And if you’re in Abia State and you want to learn how to code, please go to Learn Factory. I am living proof of the impact they can have on someone’s journey.
Sometimes, all someone needs is one person willing to give them a chance. ❤️

Reminder to take a chance on someone today.
I will forever remain grateful to everyone that gave me a first chance.

I’m sorry o, but what exactly goes on in Aba?
Every single person I’ve met who has Aba as a major part of their story is great at what they do. Education, Tech, Fashion, Manufacturing, Trade, etc.
What exactly happens in Aba? The spirit of excellence in that place is strong.

I truly love this story, full circle. So much can be achieved with community investments.
In my time in GDG, Linux Lagos and several other tiny commitments, I've found a little can go a long way for individuals looking for that headstart, guidance with a mentor or financial aid.
@hackSultan is one individual who has several success stories with Alt school and his laptop program from years ago, I'm fortunate to have supported the latter in my capacity.
Do commit more to communities like this: @KCDNigeria , @sysconf_ , @paperswelovelg and several more provide a deep community of examples to embody.

@Shalom_HeyEliy when Aba life?
We need to put Learnfactory, @rad5techhub and IGHub on the map too.
Remember, we all started from there
Can we build something that shows what the Aba Tech Community was about or looked like in 2018 when you were still learning coding.

Aba tech ecosystem produced some of the most cracked builders and Shalom is just one of many
The impact of running those free internships or just providing us with a hub has lingered for years
Most of us won’t have gotten into tech or be global talents without the hubs in Aba
Reading the story of #LagosLife founder on Zikoko and something caught my attention.
She learned coding in 2018 and got her first gig in 2020 which paid her N60k which she used to buy a Charles Babbage-gen laptop.
She was always posting about her work on Facebook and, one day in 2021, someone contacted her from Malaysia and hired her to be paying her $1k monthly.
She didn't apply. $1k in 2021 was about N500k. Big money for a 21 year old girl in Aba.
That's the importance of visibility. Showing your work.
Showing her work on Facebook got her a remote job she didn't apply for.

Proud to say I was part of this family.
Reading the VC of LearnFactory jot down the history, I can only confirm it.
I started in May 2026, and I finished August 2026.
Enabling young minds reach there full potential by providing enough resources.
The story on paper matches what we lived: showing up, building, and being counted as family, not just staff.
Grateful for the chance to be part of it. Shalom.

1) I am a proud father today.
The young woman behind Lagos Life, the phenomenal game that pulled in over 2 million players in its first days, started her tech journey in our nondescript training room in Aba, Abia
Her name is Shalom. This is her story & ours.
This is a thread 1/25

Yesterday, I had the honour of celebrating the graduation of 850 young innovators from TechRise Cohort 3. These brilliant minds have completed intensive ICT training and are now equipped to shape Abia’s digital future.
To encourage their excellent performance, I have:
* Approved automatic employment into the State Civil Service for the 19 best-graduating students.
* Directed that all 850 graduands receive ₦100,000 each.
* Gifted them the laptops used during training, now theirs to keep.
Beyond these, I have instructed our ministries to integrate TechRise talents into government ICT projects, ensuring their skills directly improve public service delivery. A special salary structure for ICT professionals in the civil service will also be introduced.
I urge our graduands to remain committed to continuous learning. The greatest reward of the programme is the knowledge and skills they now possess. Use them to build businesses, create innovations, and uplift society—not for harmful purposes.
I am particularly proud of the team that developed a functional drone. We will support them in moving this innovation from concept to commercial reality.
Finally, we are working to establish international-standard ICT certification centres in Abia and expand internet access across the state in partnership with MTN.
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our graduands, once again. You are the true architects of our collective future.
