Quick question for Pythonistas:
How (un)Pythonic is it to subclass built-in Python objects like str, list, and dict?
class MyString(str):
pass
It is possible to do it, but there’s significantly more friction than there is in, say, Ruby, especially for further subclasses.

What’s the best service to deploy small Python web apps (e.g., Flask apps)? I was planning to use @Heroku for @LearnEnough Python (partially for consistency with the other Learn Enough tutorials) but I’m concerned about its plans to eliminate the free tier. Maybe @PythonAnywhere?

I've been loving the tutorial series that @LearnEnough has on #webdevelopment. I felt like other tutorials assume a lot of previous knowledge (even for the "absolute beginner" series'). But Hartl goes through everything! Check him out if you're struggling. #worththecost

For me, the biggest takeaway was “technical sophistication” it’s exactly the skill you need as a developer - no matter the language or framework.

My first programming book was the Ruby on Rails Tutorial from @mhartl
The best part was it taught me general skills to be an effective developer
He has since created a "Learn Enough" series...
For any new devs, check it out to build the basics:

I just realized an additional reason to pronounce “sudo” as “SOO-doo” instead of “SOO-doh”: You can issue irresistible requests like “Hey, could you sudo me a favor?”
N.B. The origins of “sudo” are explained in @LearnEnough Command Line to Be Dangerous. learnenough.com/command-line

For anyone wanting to get started with web dev, I think it's still true that Rails is the best web framework there is.
I also think it's still true that @mhartl's tutorial is the best way to learn Rails.
