Stories shape our future. Story tellers manifest our destiny. Someone, somewhere, is writing an epic screenplay that is more Star Trek, than Terminator. A vision of a compelling and optimistic tomorrow that will shape humanity’s next few decades.
The cell phone, the internet, humanoid robots, self-driving cars, voice assistants, and Starships were all imagined in science fiction before they were built by engineers. Stories are blueprints.
Question: What if we asked storytellers around the world to envision an epic and compelling future for humanity, and then funded them to produce that film? What if we could flood the world with positive visions of the future, rather than dystopian predictions?

"I don't care what field you're in, you should be playing with this stuff. It has the potential to impact your role in your career, and the best way to protect against any risk of your career being obfuscated or eliminated from AI is to be the most AI-enabled version of yourself you can possibly be." — @bgurley
Happy Birthday, Alex!
Happy birthday to Alex Cox (b. December 15, 1954).
"I was never in the “traditional Hollywood cinema” because the only films I made for studios were made as negative pick-ups. The studio read the script but they didn’t have any involvement until you delivered the finished film. Then, if the finished film was a fair facsimile of the screenplay, they had to pay. You just had to find some wealthy person who could take out a bank-loan to cover the production until the studio bought the picture at the end of the production . . . I don’t think it is done anymore. I’m not aware of it being done anymore. What the studios were doing in those days—in the ‘70s and the ‘80s—they were learning how to make independent films. They were learning how it was done because they wanted to get around the craft-guilds. Once the studios figured-out how an independent film was made, they created their own faux-independent companies, like Focus Features. They made their own."

“Eno is probably the most prolific artist I've ever encountered...actively making music for over 54 years now, has released over 40 solo / collaboration albums, and produced dozens more....I hope we can all stay as curious as he's been for the past five decades and beyond.” - GH

Good morning. For @Stereogum, I spent a few days interviewing people who lost their record collections in the wildfires. A heartbreaking piece to write, but in the end it only reaffirmed my love for collecting physical media. stereogum.com/2295946/losing…

Cortex is a nice way to run LLMs locally. It's like Ollama, but it:
- Is fully C++ and packageable into other applications
- Can swap out engines (llama.cpp, TensorRT, etc.)
- Has better search and easier model quantization discovery
