It was 1965 and Marshall McLuhan, decades before we would all be carrying electronic devices, before the transistor was widely available, spoke of our epoch. AI is an extension of the human nervous system and all the changes it brings about. xitter.cf/BrianRoemmele/status/1…

We will hear much about emergent properties over this decade. Some will discount it. Others will believe it is consciousness. I know this, the AI hallucinations I have seen, 100s of 1000s, some are astonishing and kept me up at night the last few years.

Years pass. So sad.
My young friend Peter Schipperheyn stands beside his mighty sculpture of Aboriginal warrior Barak. We need 1,500,000 for bronze casting. Crowd funding?

Chris Bowen on the gas-led bin fire. "on the day that our old friend the Member for Hume announced a gas-led recovery the price of gas was $4.20 a gigajoule. The gas-led recovery went so well that by the time of the election the price was $34.75. Well Done Angus" #auspol

This is what I think about #alexa and google home: are you ready for an increasingly clever AI to go deep-diving into your brain? ready to abdicate? Outsource thinking ?

My biggest fear for the immediate future is not that machines will take over but that WE become much like THEM - see video:) More in my book gerd.fm/2pkinTx and more short videos like this gerd.fm/2pmz3ti

Feds understand this - private investment (with support from some State Governments) will keep momentum up - but we could do much more with better enabling settings from Canberra. Feds getting a free kick as they continue to pander to fossil fuel industry. reneweconomy.com.au/australi…

The inmates of the Canberra Asylum - previously known as the Australian Parliament - are acting out an elitist farce where silliness is matched only by irrelevance. We need a new playwright and a new script.

It's more than 15 years since Portugal decriminalised all drugs, & transferred all the money they used to spend on shaming, arresting & punishing ppl with addictions, into turning their lives around. The result? Huge fall in addictions, injecting drug use, & overdose deaths.
