No doubt. Johnny needs a run of games with the first team to find his footing and establish himself. His quality will be undeniable if that happens.
Last time he got any consistent run was the Copa America camp. Under Poch he’s gotten 167 total minutes. Not sure that’s a sample size we can make any conclusion based off.

Johnny has never really played for the first team. He usually gets thrown out there with MLS players.
Johnny Gio Tillman midfield would be interesting.

I think Johnny should clearly be on rosters and a rotational piece. He should have to earn his opportunities for sure. But waiting to involve a player at his level in any way would be silly.
If you elevate to that level with club you should be given chances to fight for spots.

Let’s just all align on what we mean when we say Johnny “has been worse in NT shirt than Roldan” because there is a lot of contextless noise around this.
In 2026 Johnny has played 0 NT min
2025 he played a total of 146 NT min
2024 he played 329
In 2024 I agree he wasn’t very good. But since then he’s moved to Atletico Madrid and played over 1000 La Liga min and 600 CL min. He’s also clearly elevated his game and seems to be playing far better.
But sure let’s not give a guy like that a look and let’s just keep saying he sucks because he didn’t play well years ago.
Replying to @Acarr68A @StanUsmnt
That’s just not true. Just look at Cardoso, dude has been worse in NT shirt than Roldan and still gets shouts to be a starter. He’s not even alone Weah, Sargent, Scally, etc have stunk for NT for years and were given the benefit of the doubt. If they were in MLS, they’d be grilled
The MLS guys definitely get far more overhyped than those who go to Europe .
It feels like everyone victory laps the cases where an MLS guy turns out better than some thing but ignore the 90% of cases where an MLS guy has proven to not be good enough even tho they got big chances.
Lleget is a prime example. I was gaslit for saying Lleget wasn’t NT quality and then if you track his club career since 2021 it’s shown us exactly that.
I do think a lot of us have a bias against MLS guys and I try to see through it and fight it… but it’s so hard when 90% of the guys given NT chances over the last 6+ year are dog shit.

They get more chances for sure. There are equally average euro based guys we’ve just seen way more MLS mediocrity.
Then people victory lap Freeman and actually he’s the kind of MLS guy most people are ok investing in. Even Berhlater for all the hate is far closer to the age and type of MLS guy that is worth looking at

Gio Reyna coming “back to life” for club and country is the best thing that could have happen for the USMNT 🇺🇸 to start this cycle.
Once our top prospect to being labelled a flop.
He is now performing very well in France and was the top performer for the 🇺🇸 last camp.
He is still 23 years old!
Arturo J Chesterton III retweeted
Well anyone saying that 5 years ago shouldn’t really be taken seriously if they were talking about NT career.
Pulisic like everyone in the pool needs to prove himself. This is what his last 3 years has been. This isn’t hate it’s just reality:
-7 goals in 3 years (2.3 per year)
-1 goal since the start of 2025
-Got hurt at World Cup and didn’t score in 4 apps
-Skipped the Gold Cup 2025
-No goals as we went 0-2 in NL 2025
-We got grouped in Copa at home. He did score in the win vs Bolivia but no showed in the next two games vs better comp
-2023 vs Mexico in NL was really his last meaningful USMNT performance in a game with stakes where he was a game changer.
I am giving the guy a clean slate but his status in my eyes is closer to the other good players we have who need to prove their worth continually vs being a locked in no matter what guy.
The people hating on him today are the same people that 5-6 years ago said he was already the greatest ever American soccer player.

Sooo many guys who moved to Europe who were never close to good enough. That list is crazy long!! Which is why thinking someone is NT quality just because they play in Europe somewhere is a stupid concept.
Amon, Ledezma, Soto, Llanez, Fossey, Booth, Gooch, Otasowie, Palmer-Brown - this list can keep going on and on.
This still doesn’t negate the fact that on the whole we will find our best guys in the best leagues and pushing themselves to the highest levels.
We’ll also find some MLS guys who are poised to start that journey. We won’t find many who are 28 and comfy in any mid tier league.

There are a lot of American dual Nats who don’t stand out/aren’t good at the senior level. People just only remember the ones that are good so they think Europe automatically =good
If it’s a penalty in the first minute, it’s a penalty in the last minute. In the box, appears to be a lazy challenge. Was it embellished? Sure a bit.
Can say it’s a tough way to get beat, but ask your team why are you in a position where a call like that can beat you?🤷♂️
CP10 made choices and now has the face the music of some of the choices not working out. It’s not on the fans and the media to cover for his incorrect decisions. Objectively Support him for the USMNT yes…prop him up after poor choices, nah

After he showed his ass at the World Cup this summer, there were only two paths Christian Pulisic could take: play every minute of every game for the next four years (including the Olympics) or never play for the national team again.
As a member of the Media here in the USA, I can definitely say I will not uplift Christian Pulisic. He needs to uplift himself and get back into the good graces of Mauricio Pochettino. His poor attitude and his arrogance, along with how his family and friends are coddling him, are a giant disgrace for him.
He showed his arrogance in the @paramountplus Docuseries about his life in Italy and for the USMNT, and on the @hbomax app on the U.S. Vs. the World. The minute there was a hint of negativity towards him when he said no to the @GoldCup, that was mistake #1. When he begged for Pochettino to take a vacation during the Gold Cup, that was mistake #2.
Now his spot is in jeopardy. There's Julian Hall, Justin Ellis, Cavan Sullivan, and, if he's still in the mix, Diego Luna, because these players are the future, and they will run through a brick wall for that badge and for that jersey for the USMNT.
The only person who can help him and uplift him is himself, and finally realize that the people who are supposed to be his friends & his family are harming him and putting tons of crap in his head. Once he looks into the mirror and actually sees that, then he can turn things around, and we will support him, but now, I will not.
We look to those who finally retired from their international careers, like Lionel Messi. Messi, Cristiano Ronald & Luka Modric are playing or have played in their late 30's & or early 40's and never begged for a vacation. Pulisic is not at that level to beg for one. When the National Team calls, they are ready to go.
So once again, I will not uplift or support Pulisic. He needs to understand that, in the summer of 2025, that was a stupid thing to do. The level of that situation after Gregg Berhalter was replaced by Pochettino in 2024 was a crisis and he needed to be part of the all hands on deck feeling. Instead, he whined and whimpered.
You can have all the talent in the world. You could be a five-tool player, a freak of nature, or the absolute best in your sport. If you don't have your head screwed on right, then you are just wasting your god gifted talents, and we don't need you anymore.

At some point people will have to stop saying:
“This USMNT 🇺🇸 player was developed in MLS”
Seriously, give credit where it’s due which is to the specific teams that do a good job… not the entire league where most teams develop literally zero players USMNT players.
