The Los Pinos wildfire started yesterday afternoon in San Juan county, New Mexico, near the Colorado border after a gas pipeline exploded. What a crazy fire to respond to. Fire resources from Los Pinos Fire Protection District, mutual aid resources, and utility crews responded, and the line was shut down. Crews then addressed the resulting timber fire. The cause of the explosion is not yet known, no injuries have been reported.

The problem is not how the water is used. The problem is that the law, on both sides of the border, incentivizes draining the river 100% dry. Most people commonly misunderstand the problem, and therefore can't identity an appropriate solution.
Farming and ranching are some of the main backbones of America, and we need to keep it that way. But the alfalfa farming in the Southwest must be addressed. An absolutely insane amount of water for such little positive impact for the region & country
