This is deeply disappointing but not surprising given the fate of TG Jones. I’ve been speaking to the Post Office over the summer about this risk and they have been looking at alternative options. Good to see council, Mayor & partners working together on this.

A screeching u-turn from the Mayor today reversing his plans to cut bus services in Werrington. Good work by local councillors and others fighting for local services. But we need to keep an eye on this.

We're lifting restrictions on disabled bus passes so they can be used to travel for free 24/7. We're putting an end to the postcode lottery, so disabled people can access opportunity, and see friends and family whenever they want, wherever they live. theguardian.com/politics/202…

Thank you 🙏 I had the privilege today to say thank you in person to some of the crew at @PVFB286479 who have been dealing with the wildfires at Holme Fen and elsewhere across Peterborough.

Good to see new PM has banned the sale of disposable BBQs during this period because of the risk of fires.  I’ve also asked the council and government to look at banning the sale of fireworks. A big issue here. We need to reduce risks. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0jl…

Hottest summer on record, drought & wildfires. Responding to the immediate crisis is vital to keep people safe. But as @andyburnham says we also need to respond to the causes of the climate crisis. We need to do both.
We cannot accept this as the new normal.

We all have a role to play in keeping our city and community safe in this hot weather. I’ve joined with @sam_carling_ @docshab to urge people to think again before letting off fireworks, using disposable BBQs or lighting fires during the heatwave. Let’s work together.

Thank you to all our emergency workers during this heatwave especially our fire fighters. We have more heat to come. Please be vigilant and stay careful..Think about whether you need to use a disposable BBQ or let off fireworks during this time. We can all help play our part.

Out on the harvest this week with Jim, Michael and team for the Spring Barley. Hot weather, little rain and harvest earlier this year. Always a pleasure to listen & learn.

Spot on. Disposable BBQs are a risk during this heatwave. Good to see @coopuk leading the way and being one of first retailers to suspend sales during this period.
Today I’ve written to every major UK retailer asking them to temporarily suspend the sale of disposable BBQs online and in stores while the risk of wildfires remains exceptionally high.

Higher temperatures & love of a lido. Impressive figures here - 82,000 people have used Peterborough Lido since it opened this year, compared to 60,000 for year before. These pools are assets for us all. They need cherishing & protecting for the future peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news…

Hey @Conservatives what’s going on here? You suspended this candidate nearly 2 weeks ago for antisemitism allegations but your local volunteers are using these today?

This is really disappointing by Peterborough Conservatives. This candidate was suspended nearly 2 weeks ago - antisemitism concerns - but locally the are still using Conservative branded materials
