(1/3) Yesterday, Deputy President Paul Tompkins hosted our busy Great British Breakfast event alongside Efra Chair @amcarmichaelMP at the Liberal Democrats' Conference. It was fantastic to see so many MPs, councillors and delegates, and to celebrate our fantastic British farmers.
(2/3) Paul also met with Rural Affairs Spokesperson @SarahDykeLD to discuss the opportunities for the horticulture sector, animal disease preparedness, drought and planning policy.

🌾🐑🇬🇧This BACK BRITISH FARMING DAY, our farmers and growers expect actions, not empty words and promises from government.
This year’s drought has again shown how fragile our food and farming sector is. Yields are down. Wildfires have been widespread and the Bluetongue virus has hit our livestock farmers hard.
We are ever indebted to our farmers - but they need government to be on their side.
Food security and water security must be taken more seriously by Ministers. Not just words, or headlines politics, but action and implementation.
The government must stop hammering our food and farming businesses with tax hikes. They must axe the fertiliser tax, family farm tax and support the next generation.
The Conservatives will do this.
Food security and water security are central to our plans.

📢 (1/4) Today, on #BackBritishFarmingDay, MPs from across the House came together to celebrate the contribution of British farmers and growers.
(3/4) @EdwardJDavey also shared his support for BBF Day, while urging the PM to revisit IHT on farm businesses as a measure to back the industry. We were pleased to hear @andyburnham say in his response that he will set out more measures later to back British farming.
