Labor unions are a lot more effective at promoting family formation and stability than right-wing podcasters and meme-lords raging against women these days. I’ve been making this argument FOR YEARS. Now there’s more empirical proof. If you want strong families, especially in the working class, you have to support a material foundation. That means a less lopsided distribution of the social income (which unions achieve through collective bargaining) and a sense of empowerment / agency (which they achieve through collective action).

We start bargaining today! Our CBA expires in Nov and a lot’s changed in the last few years since we won our first contract. We look forward to bringing articles that better reflect the current landscape of our work. What do you think should be in any modern CBA for a tech shop?

Workers are organizing with the Teamsters in record numbers because everyone knows life’s better in North America’s strongest union. The Teamsters Union recently won six elections in one day, including print workers in Virginia, bus workers in Connecticut and New Hampshire, waste workers in Washington, and construction workers and mechanics in Minnesota.

TVA’s debt limit is serious problem to allowing it to meet the moment.
Replying to @FreightAlley
I’m sad / surprised TVA is still under a really counterproductive debt limit. Could otherwise invest in far more economical power projects (nuclear or otherwise). Some adverse selection issues could be at play in terms of who will end up pitching TVA

Huh? Maoism is beyond irrelevant in 2026. The political preferences of the American rich are why three quarters of American workers are at-will employees without any protection against being arbitrarily fired, and why medical emergencies routinely put average Americans in debt.
Should the average person be more afraid of the American rich, or Maoism?
