Are cops part of the labor movement or an existential threat to it? We sent labor reporters Hamilton Nolan and Jacob Morrison to the 23rd Quadrennial Convention of the International Union of Police Associations in Las Vegas to find out.

I think we should probably tax the rich more if they have this kind of money to spend.
The California nonprofit opposing the billionaires tax, Building a Better California, has raised a staggering $227 million, per new filing last night.
obviously politically who cares what talarico's preacher thinks, but it is kind of wild to be a christian preacher who is ambiguous about whether or not there was even a historical jesus figure lol. like, thats not even a debate among the scholars as far as i can tell

“When workers file for a union election, it’s like a Bat-Signal goes off: a column of light cuts through the night sky, summoning not Bruce Wayne but a swarm of anti-union managers and consultants who reap tens of thousands of dollars from sowing fear and doubt.”

“If you understand the corporate structure in America, then you understand they’re spending the money with expectations to make more money,” said AutoZone worker David Valencia. “And where is that money going to come from? It’s going to come from us!”

can someone tell me why @TeamsterSOB supports a deal where the "worker protections" he touts in this press release can be nullified if his union goes on strike?
in the part of the contract stoller has here, "labor disruptions" are listed reasons the settlement can be voided
glad to see this, but its interesting that tva would want its leaders described in this way when one of the critiques from i.e., blackburn was that moul was a "career tva employee"
@TimesFreePress remains the best place to read tva news

ICYMI 👀: On @LaborReporters' podcast, @IAMBrianBryant set the record straight about the claim that we raided Teamsters units.
We're focused on building a stronger labor movement altogether. Hear it from Bryant himself.

BIG NEWS today in Alabama!
The Alabama Public Service Commission, for the first time in decades, ordered a public investigation into the rates of a monopoly utility (Spire in this case).
The result?
A cut to Spire's return on equity.

Very happy to see so many people on here, in the wake of Dolly Parton’s passing, rise up to make the case that there are good people in the South and Appalachia. It’s a little less lonely waging this fight 🫡

The UFW’s legal victory over the Trump administration’s wage cuts in the exploitative H2-A visa program is also victory for U.S. citizen workers like Irene.
This is real American Workers First.
Trump administration’s pay cuts for migrant farmworkers ruled illegal 1/2

ALT screenshot of a worker quote in the Washington Post: Irene Mendoza, a U.S. farmworker from Texas who sued the Trump administration, said the wage cuts would make it difficult for her to pay for her children's education and insurance coverage for a heart condition. "Bringing in entire crews of H-2A workers saves companies money, but it comes at the expense of U.S. workers like me," said Mendoza, who picks and packs green beans and potatoes, in a statement provided to The Post.

For what it’s worth, @AngieNixon has for years been one of the only Democrats in Florida actively trying to restore Florida’s state labor department to meaningfully combat wage theft and protect workers’ rights
