Job cuts, falling pay and other cutbacks are devastating higher education. “It’s really hard to work in HE at the moment... I’ve worked in a warehouse before where the roof collapsed... it was still probably an easier employer to work for.” #FundOurFuture

UCU have called a day of action in every University in the UK on Friday 20th November. We will be working with sister unions to ensure the biggest possible support for protests, rallies and events that will be held on this day.
This is part of our fight to protect jobs and courses as well as build solidarity across the union.
Materials will be dispatched to every branch. Start your local planning now.
Four universities on strike today. One map to find them all.
Nottingham, Dundee, Glasgow Caledonian and Edinburgh are out. And today we launch the UCU strike map: every dispute across the union, in one place.
Find a dispute near you. Visit a picket. Share the map.

Objective assessments have concluded that the people who ran UK universities in the ground must be paid in accordance with their 'global talent' for doing so.
But you have to pay these big bucks to get such incredible talent say @UniversitiesUK 🤔 and they all do such a great job. VCs themselves say salaries are nothing to do with them but reflect the views of the remuneration committees 🤡. There's nothing to see here.

While the workers face recruitment freeze, restructures & redundancies, on the corridor of power they are welcoming yet another member to the @LSBU University Executive with a job description that is pure management-speak, lots of words, says nothing. @HigherEd_UK @UNISONinHE

Love how VC's have stock phrases they all use when announcing cuts
“financial environment is becoming increasingly challenging.”
"in order to ensure the long‑term sustainability of the institution.”
“will require significant further savings across all areas of expenditure"
Etc
