As Chairman of the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Committee in the House, I was pleased to join @LPPCorg CEOs from all across the nation’s largest public power utilities here in Nashville. Advanced nuclear and other firm generation technologies play a critical role in strengthening American energy reliability, affordability, security, and innovation. I look forward to continuing to work with LPPC and public power leaders to advance reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy solutions for the more than 30 million customers they serve.

Always a pleasure speaking with @LlewellynKing2. Thank you for having me on White House Chronicle to discuss what is driving electricity cost pressures, and how public power utilities are working to protect existing customers while meeting growing demand and investing in the grid.
Here is a summary of this week's episode of "White House Chronicle" on PBS, SiriusXM Radio and other broadcast outlets: Topic: The essentiality of electricity, and why its cost is rising Summary: Tom Falcone, president of the Large Public Power Council, speaks with Host Llewellyn King about the essentiality of electricity, and what is causing rising electricity prices. vimeo.com/1188085945 Interested in becoming a sponsor of the program? Can’t say it better than @NRECAJim — public power @LPPCorg and electric co-ops @NRECANews agree on the importance of @fema and that the bipartisan Fixing Emergency Management for Americans Act will help ensure faster, fairer recovery for the communities we serve.
Half of all co-ops have needed @FEMA help since 2020—but red tape slows recovery. I joined @NRECA’s Along Those Lines podcast to talk about fixing that. bit.ly/48AhT2l

Today, CPS Energy has announced the closing of its acquisition of PROENERGY’s four natural gas power generation facilities with an aggregate electric capacity of approximately 1,632 megawatts (“MW”) generation portfolio located in Harris, Brazoria, and Galveston counties. The addition of these assets supports San Antonio’s long-term energy needs and clean energy commitments, delivering reliability and cost efficiencies for CPS Energy customers, and represents a major step forward in CPS Energy’s community-led and board-approved power generation plan. Great to be in Columbus for the @amppartners Annual Conference. On display is the outstanding support AMP delivers to its members and public power communities — one of the best! AMP is now updating its Integrated Resource Plan to meet the region’s future growth. A pleasure to spend time with AMP members and staff and to join @PublicPowerOrg’s Scott Corwin and @NERC_Official’s Jim Robb on today’s panel for a wide-ranging discussion of reliability, affordability and sustainability. Thanks to Jolene for the hat and cup!

LPPC member utilities are investing $140B over the next decade to meet unprecedented demand for electricity from AI and data centers. As @NewYorker cartoonist Paul Noth highlights, it’s important that those requesting new power pay for it. #EnergyPolicy

I spoke with @WSJ on the staggering scale of data center power requests. Much of it is real but building too much risks saddling customers with costs. Developers should sign long-term contracts so they bear the risk, not customers. #AI #datacenters wsj.com/business/energy-oil/…
