Ireland could power itself entirely - data centres and all - be completely energy independent, and with low household prices if we had gone all out for wind turbines, especially off shore. But we'd prefer to remain dependent on expensive imported gas. Again, no vision.
China’s wind turbines alone generated more electricity in 2025 than all of Japan. 640 GW of installed wind capacity is 4 times the US’s and 8 times Germany’s. This is not a target. It’s already built.

BREAKING: Northern Ireland Environment Agency pulls water pollution limits set for Dalradian gold mine, telling public inquiry chiefs they got them wrong. Asks (rather angry) PAC carry on regardless. “How am I supposed to do that?” says lead commissioner. #WatchBelow

The UK’s spy chiefs examined the impacts of the collapse of overseas ecosystems, under pressure of climate crisis and biodiversity loss, on UK’s national security. Their findings? “Apocalyptic.” UK defence and society at risk, impacts within 5 years. theguardian.com/environment/…

"Southern Water fined £2.4m over multiple incidents of sewage pollution in Kent." That of course is on top of the £7.1 million they were fined back in July, the £90 million they were fined back in 2021, or the 107 environmental offences they've been found guilty of in the last 15 years. Really, what is the point? itv.com/news/meridian/2026-0…

The discovery of a 400-year-old will left by an English soldier has raised doubt about the true ownership of Lough Neagh, a new book has claimed. Dr Thomas Muinzer, a legal academic and author from Northern Ireland, unearthed the will of Sir Arthur Chichester (1563-1625) which was previously thought to have been destroyed in a fire. Weston Big Wood is irreplaceable ancient woodland & a protected SSSI . Yet plans could see around 500 homes built on Tower Farm and Black Rock , enclosing it on both sides . We should be protecting places like this , not building right up to their edges . c.org/8bV8Vy5Gm6

"1 in 4 chance of ‘catastrophic’ water supply failure for 1m Britons." Yep, according to the govt's national risk register there is now 25% chance of a massive failure "resulting in the loss of piped drinking water and impact to wastewater services for over one million people”, adding that "residents would likely have to leave the area, and some may require evacuation. It is likely that repair of the infrastructure could take months". You have been warned. thetimes.com/uk/environment/…
