It’s crazy to ban people from a supposedly decentralized social network for posting takes the VC owner disagrees with. How is this better than X? We need a real decentralized and anonymous free speech platform where users own their data. Try @lc, make an anon account with @nym.
If you were banned from Farcaster after the acquisition and are looking for a new home, @LC is for you. Continue your journey on @heydotxyz , connect with the Lens community, and keep building. 🫡 🔗 hey.xyz

There probably isn't one app that fixes privacy. It's a stack. Different tools for different layers. Social is one layer, not the whole thing.
we are pro-stack, not 1 silver bullet. It helps to use different tools, practices depending on personal & collective context. Especially, when tech products can ship for years.

The web didn't become infrastructure because everyone used the same browser. It became infrastructure because different people could build on the same underlying layer. Social should work the same way.

Farcaster needs a new steward. Many worry who will buy it and what they will do to it. The fix is easy. Get the protocol past the point where it needs a steward. Clients will come and go. I heard in the recent fc community call that if you can't run a client directly off the protocol, then the protocol is not complete. Complete means more than just read and write. You should be able to replay and verify the whole history, without trusting whoever pays the s3 infra bill. Also the canonical record should not depend on a handful of validator keys from the steward itself. We're crypto. Let's do crypto. A lot has changed in Ethereum since Farcaster and Lens were born. Blobs are extremely exciting. Data is pruned but commitments are kept. Anyone can rehost this pruned data anywhere (laptop, pinning services, clients) and this data can be verified against the chain. Batched and compressed writes get cheap enough that any client can sponsor them. Or you could be a punk and pay for your posts, follows, blocks and more. Ethereum can and should become the superset of all social. A future where anyone can read, write, verify and rebuild. Social can be a public good, not something you rent. If there is onchain state that is replicable then the stewards can come and go. That's what I want to build. New social. Less centralization. Let's be friends and do this together.

Strong ecosystems are built through shared infrastructure and many builders moving in the same direction, not by any single product. As institutions move from experimentation to long-term infrastructure decisions on @ethereum, credible and neutral support becomes increasingly valuable. Areas like identity, reputation, and onchain coordination will matter more as adoption scales. Good to see @ethereuminsti being built🎉

The internet won because open protocols connected the world. The next era will scale through neutral infrastructure that lets identity, communities, and value exist beyond individual platforms. Excited to see this vision keep expanding @ethlabs_org 👏
Announcing Ethlabs: a non-profit R&D lab for Ethereum and ETH Our mission is to make Ethereum the settlement layer of the global economy. The internet became global because shared protocols created a common language between networks. Private systems remained useful, but bounded. Finance is approaching a similar moment. As value, assets, and markets become digital, the world needs shared settlement infrastructure. Ethereum is uniquely positioned to become that shared base layer, the neutral foundation on which users, institutions, and agents can transact without intermediation. What we believe: • We believe credible neutrality matters. Ten years of uptime and the lowest counterparty risk. Ground that cannot be pulled away by any one country, institution, company, or person. • We believe ETH matters. The most valuable, programmable store of value. A decade of broad distribution, deep liquidity in onchain markets, and maximally trustless asset on Ethereum. • We believe DeFi matters. Markets, liquidity, credit, exchange, and coordination, open to anyone. • We believe adoption matters. Principles do not change the world until people benefit from them. We sit between two worlds: real usage from the builders at the frontier, and the protocol that has to support it. We work with users, applications, wallets, L2s, infrastructure teams, institutions, ETH holders, core devs and researchers, then turn what they actually need into protocol work, shared standards, infrastructure, and shipped products. Ethlabs is independent but Ethereum is a shared project. We are one node in a much larger network of stewards. This is the multi-node future. We have spent the better part of the past decade contributing to Ethereum core research and development. We are opinionated and transparent. We move with urgency, learn in public, and course-correct when we’re wrong. We are building a lean, talent-dense team for people who want to do the most important work of their careers: [email protected]
