This 'rule' is nothing more than an artificial invention from an 18th C writer called Robert Baker. He moaned about it in his 1770 book, Reflections on the English Language.
You may not like it, but using 'less' for countable nouns is perfectly acceptable English.
Never thought I'd be compelled to mute the words #ibuprofen and #paracetamol on social media, but here we are.
How very 2026.

That's not to say that all trans ppl pose a threat, but because some do, all must be excluded from spaces that are not aligned with their biological sex.
It's really that simple.
The NHS policy of including males in female spaces has had devastating results for women's safety, as our ground-breaking NHS Reports revealed.
🚩 Over a four year period more than 6,500 rapes and sexual assaults - some against children under 13 - were committed in hospitals in England and Wales.
🚩 In Scotland 276 sexual assaults and 12 rapes were committed between 2019 and 2024 in just 57 of Scotland’s 198 hospitals.
The NHS put women and children in harm’s way with its relentless drive for ‘inclusion’ of males in the female estate. The news that the NHS in England will finally comply with the law is good news and long overdue.

Ensuring the safety and dignity of women and girls is ridiculous, hey?

It's only a breach of your human rights if you are refused healthcare. Being treated on a ward that aligns with your sex preserves everyone's human rights. It also preserves the dignity of and respect for women and girls.

Brit born and raised - I say cursive, although in junior school we were taught it as 'joined-up writing'.
I have to be honest, I worry about teenage girls getting hormonal contraception. I just don't think there's been enough research into the impact on mental health.
I'm not saying girls shouldn't have access to it, just that it should be studied more.

Firstly, what a delight to see parallelism discussed on my feed.
Secondly, you're spot on. The entire point of the construction is to create rapid, staccato momentum by chaining all three predicates together under the same implied subject.

First daughter went dry no problem at 2, second daughter still no luck by 3, led to an eventual diagnosis of toddler diarrhoea with advice from the doc that she'd be dry when she was good and ready. Finally managed it at 3.5. There's no one-size-fits-all.

Episode 2 will be a hit-job for sure. They'll take any opportunity to paint her as a bigot.

Yep, I'm 47 too and remember this very clearly. I hated it. I'm sure this is the reason I don't enjoy sport.

How very exciting to receive Levi Pinfold's illustrated edition of #HalfBloodPrince this morning! It's perfect next to the other editions and next to a very inviting gap that's waiting for #DeathlyHallows!
