@MayorWestMids remember that the re-build of the #EastEnders set cost well over £80 million. #thearchers studio will cost a fraction of that at the new @bbcwm Digbeth HQ in #Birmingham. – at Warwick, England
No Henry Zeffman on #bbcbreakfast as he's on paternity leave apparently.

Pebble Mill was iconic, free PR for Birmingham every day. It could have sat as a heritage building at the centre of a network of production sites around WM, it was our Broadcasting House. Our local political class just didn't fight hard enough for it.

#r4today this is such a non story BBC politics again being lead by the Sun and the telegraph Chris Mason sounds like the spokesman for them embarrassing

How can the BBC invest in a headquarters in Digbeth, yet consider moving The Archers out of Brum?
When we secured that investment, losing shows was never part of the plan.
After 75 years, it is part of the WM's heritage. The BBC must reconsider.

The Archers was born in Birmingham and is a key part of our broadcasting heritage. I’m very disappointed by news that the BBC plans to move its production out of the city.
The BBC has made clear commitments to growing its presence in the West Midlands - especially with the move to the Tea Factory. So, moving one of its most established programmes out of the region sends the wrong message.
We have the talent and the facilities here. There is no good reason why we should lose a programme that has called Birmingham home for decades.
I’m meeting the BBC’s Director-General, Matt Brittin, this week. I want to understand the reasons behind this decision and discuss every available option to keep The Archers here.
The BBC promised to invest and support our regions, this is entirely the opposite of that. And it can’t be allowed to happen.

Whats the point! the BBC doesn't listen - its our BBC you say thank you for the money but when it comes to the axe we get no say and its an "editorial" decision.
Imagine the irony if the BBC suits decided to axe @BBCR4Feedback – at Dorridge, England

I’m sorry to say the BBC is committing multiple acts of self-harm. Current senior management do not seem to understand that in the changing media landscape the BBC should still be providing content the commercial sector is unwilling or unable to invest in.
Sorry to inform you that @BBCFreeThinking (and Thinking Allowed) have been cancelled as part of cost-saving measures. Last show will go out in April. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmly…

Matt Brittin told employees today that he wants the BBC to “be more Elvis,” by which he meant: “A little less conversation, a little more action.” Welcome to the Silicon Valley-isation of the BBC. deadline.com/2026/10/bbc-sil…
