Imagine a world where children cower in fear, where parents hide from everyone, a world that wants you dead and will do anything to achieve that goal. Imagine being seven years old and having an adult yell and scream at you for being who you are and having another child your own

If find yourself blindly supporting every student lead movement, you’ll be wrong very often, in many eras, on many issues.
A good rule of history: if you find yourself opposing a student movement while siding with the ruling class, you're wrong. Every time, in every era, whatever the issue.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Student movements have not always been on the right side of history. Mao's student Red Guards persecuted hundreds of thousands. Students helped Castro and Khomeini rise to power, and Nazi student groups opposed the Weimar Republic.

I find this distribution of desperation, agency and responsibility fascinating.
An Omani co-pilot, with no direct involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, is apparently so desperate about it that even his alleged attempt to crash a passenger plane and kill everyone aboard is framed through "his" suffering.
Israel, meanwhile, is actually IN the conflict. After October 7, it faced a very real security dilemma: continuing to live alongside Hamas under the previous conditions was no longer a viable option. Nor can a non-violent way of eliminating that threat simply be wished into existence.
And Israel is desperate too. Surely, by the same logic, that should absolve it of responsibility?
Apparently not.
In fact, follow this reasoning to its absurd conclusion: if the poor, desperate Omani pilot cannot really be held responsible for his actions, somebody else must be. And who could that possibly be, if not Israel?
So Israel somehow ends up responsible even for the violence of people who have no direct involvement in the conflict, including violence directed against Israeli civilians themselves.
And this language of desperation keeps appearing whenever violence against Israelis and Jews is discussed. What about individual agency? What about indoctrination by Hamas? What about antisemitic incitement and its role in motivating violence?
None of this means Israel should be exempt from accountability. Quite the opposite. Accountability matters.
But it must apply to everyone.
Desperation cannot be an excuse for everyone else's violence while Israel alone is expected to remain fully responsible — not only for its own actions, but apparently for everyone else's too.

The captain of the Flydubai Flight to Tel Aviv has been identified as Smit Machchhar from India. He
was stabbed with a knife by his co-pilot, an Omani, in the cockpit on Flydubai flight FZ1073. Passengers and crew members intervened, subdued the attacker, and helped stabilize the flight. Both pilots were taken to hospital after landing and Saudi authorities have arrested the co pilot.
Capt. Machchhar remains under medical care. Wishing him a complete and speedy recovery. ♥️

The Co-Pilot is an Omani citizen! It is being reported that he stabbed the Captain and attempted to take control of the plane to either crash it into the ground or into a building in Israel!
This is going to change things in the Middle East & normalization with Arab countries!

Yes, I’m a proud “traitor.”
I betrayed radical Islamist ideology because I saw the darkness within it: hatred, hostility toward non Muslims, and the constant creation of enemies.
And I will never be bullied or silenced by radical Muslim Brotherhood preachers who weaponize one of extremism’s most powerful tools: fear.
When they call me a “traitor,” I wear that label with pride.
I swallowed those ideas when I was young. Then I defeated them with knowledge, facts, and truth.
So what do I believe in today, as a Muslim?
I believe in humanity.
I refuse to hate Jews.
I refuse to hate Christians.
I refuse to hate people simply because they believe differently from me.
I love America and the West, and I reject the worldview of extremists who teach their followers to see entire nations and peoples as enemies.
But even in fighting this ideology, I fight it with a good heart.
I do not hate its followers.
I stand firmly against their ideology while hoping that those trapped within it can free themselves from hatred and become better versions of themselves just as knowledge helped me change.
This is not about vengeance…this is transformation.
So yes, call me a “traitor.”
I’m a proud traitor to extremism, a proud advocate for peace, and I have zero regrets about standing against fanaticism.
May God bless everyone who has found the courage to overcome hateful teachings, reject extremism, and choose peace instead. 🙏🏼♥️

#DAOU describing the context behind the clip that came out: They were filming The Bodyguard, a special episode for Wicked Game, and took photos together after wrapping up. He was clearly uncomfortable with how the footage came across and explained that he had never intended to make that kind of joke, nor did he even realize they were being filmed.
🦖: After wrapping up filming The Bodyguard, we were taking photos together—there were Peach, Inn, and me. I was already hugging Inn, and we took some photos. Then all the Phis suddenly came over and surrounded us with hugs. I didn’t even know where everyone suddenly came from or how that whole situation happened.
🦖: Inn and I aren’t the kind of people who would just do something like that out of the blue. The footage that came out didn’t look appropriate. I personally didn’t know we were being filmed or that someone would post it.
🦖: For me, I’m not comfortable making jokes like that. At the time, we were pretty out of it after a full day of work—our makeup call was at 7 a.m., and we wrapped up around 7 p.m. We were completely exhausted.
🦖: And I saw…that some people wanted me to come out and say something… (sighs)
// Also worth noting in this context: Daou has openly identified himself as queer 🏳️🌈

Not xikers related, but I wanted to share this because I like this perspective.
👤: Have you seen Choi San’s ceremonial first kick-off?
Honestly, his kick wasn’t exactly great. But personally, I didn’t find it embarrassing at all. As someone who loves football, what I noticed first wasn’t whether he kicked the ball well or not.
What I saw was how much effort someone who isn’t used to kicking a football had put into preparing for that moment and trying his best to do it properly. And most importantly, a ceremonial kick-off isn’t a place to judge someone’s football skills.
If what you wanted to see was a perfect kick, then a professional footballer like Ki Sung-yueng should’ve taken it. To me, a ceremonial kick-off is about starting the match together and creating a meaningful memory for the person taking part and everyone who came to the stadium.
Yet because his kick looked a little awkward despite all the preparation he had put into it, people still left mocking comments like, “Have you never played football before?”
Sometimes, it feels like we live in a society where it’s easier to find one thing someone is worse at than us than to recognize how much effort they’ve put into something.
So what if the kick wasn’t perfect?
Even though football isn’t something he’s familiar with, he was given the opportunity to take the ceremonial kick-off at such a major match. He understood the significance of that moment, prepared seriously, and did his best in front of thousands of people.
To me, that is what a ceremonial kick-off should be about.
For those of you who watched the video, what did you notice first about Choi San’s kick-off? His awkward posture?
Or the person behind it who genuinely put in the effort to prepare?
