I've just had my third jab, along with countless other vaccines over my lifetime. I'm very 'pro' vaccine!
I also find lockdowns for the unvaccinated disgraceful and dividing society like that will lead to deep and irreversible scars.
This is not a route we want to go down here.

The most blatant covid mis/dis-information I came across today was pushed by senior journalists and scientists, including government advisors. I appreciate we're all tense and many of us are scared, but this is not healthy for society and science. I invite everyone to calm down.

COVID data is the most important set of numbers in the country and they can't get it right. It causes so much panic.
Don't be alarmed by the spike.
Look at specimen data for England- the date of test, rather than date reported (recent days will increase but trend is clear).

So whilst the media had a field day yesterday with ‘highest ever cases’ with 6208.....
Based on actual specimen date the rolling average is less than 4500...

812 reported new cases today, down on last Wednesday's 1009 so the 7 day rolling average falls again.
It would be nice to see the falls reported with the same vigour as the rises from some.
It's not as low as we'd like, but it seems to be heading in the right direction now.

There were 676 recorded cases yesterday in England, that's down from 721 a week before and the lowest number since the start of last week.
Let's see how it develops over the next week, the average has stopped rising over the last few days.

The German R value is now estimated at 0.62. The 'spikes' get covered, so it's important to talk about when it reduces.
That recent dramatic rise and fall is a useful reminder that as numbers become lower that value is far more susceptible to fluctuations.
