The Tories back up to 24%. Jesus. The British public is like a dog that's been kicked by the same bloke for fourteen years, yet still runs to the door when it hears his car.
And Labour, sort yourselves out.

And this is *exactly* why we need independent journalism, folks. And the only hope of that is if people pay for it. This is not news, it's propaganda.

BREAKING: Andy Burnham will set out plans for UK’s long term and closer relationship with European Union at next reset summit. 🇬🇧🇪🇺
Options include customs union, single market and rejoining the bloc. PM will use summit to see if they can find consensus around one.
“I can’t say to you truthfully that where we are is good enough. Brexit has done more harm than good,” he says.

Compare and contrast the labour conference with that of reform
Labour is hope, togetherness, joy and grit
Reform was hate, division, anger and grift.
I know which Britain I prefer

The case for rejoining the EU has never been stronger.
It’s now the only path for securing our long-term prosperity.
And we mustn’t delay. Labour must start making the case - and then use the next election to secure a mandate to rejoin.

40% of UC Claimants are in work.
25% of renters receiving housing benefit are in work.
At least 680,000 disabled people on PIP are in work.
The Tories watched pay fall over a decade as they also slashed benefits to the bone.
Meanwhile Helen has claimed £300,000 on her own accommodation and travel expenses since 2015 despite living 50 miles from London.
A life on benefits can pay more than getting a job. That's wrong.
Our economy needs British people – not just migrants imported to fill the gap.
New @Conservative policy won't let anyone stay on benefits for years if they're able to work.

When you hear people say “let them drown”, this is what those words mean.

Rachel from Piddington was magnificent on #Newsnight.
She described how hard-right activists and “plastic patriots” arriving from outside the village have used fear to organise hostility towards plans to house 1,200 asylum seekers, bringing overt racism into what had always been a peaceful community.
When @vicderbyshire said local women were worried about 1,200 male asylum seekers, Rachel rightly reframed it:
“Women would be worried about 1,200 men from anywhere.”
Legitimate questions about the scale and management of the site must be answered. But women’s safety must not be weaponised to portray every asylum seeker as a sexual threat.
Rachel eventually broke down while describing what it feels like to discover that she is living among such prejudice.
An excellent, courageous interview. It will deeply upset all the usual people which rather proves her point.
"It's really upsetting - it's always been the most amazingly peaceful place to live and we've never experienced the level of overt racism that we’re witnessing"
Rachel, a Piddington resident, expresses her concern at some of the arguments made in opposition to plans for a nearby disused MoD base to house 1200 male asylum seekers.

Hey @BBCNews -
Can you please actually do your job and report how everyone, including Reform, were told in March the law would be retroactive.
Heres the wording:
“The cap will therefore apply retrospectively, so it will include all donations from overseas electors received from today and all regulated transactions entered into from today.”

In 2025, all UK political parties combined received £65,000,000 in political donations
Reform UK just got £72,000,000 in 2 days from 2 donors.
British politics has been bought.

The BBC leads bulletins with Farage “honoured and humbled” to get Britain’s biggest ever donation (like ot is a peace prize!) How about ‘Farage in fresh funding scandal as crypto convict pardoned by Trump becomes latest donor.’ Can we not sack the Gibb/Reform team who write the headlines and control BBC online? Thank God for Channel 4!!

As Britain swelters through another heatwave, few people will have heard that ministers have quietly dropped plans for solar carports.
Cars cooler in summer. Shelter from the rain in winter. Clean electricity all year round.
A missed opportunity?
