Navi Pillay’s record should raise far more than serious questions about the Nobel Committee’s judgment. It should disqualify her as a recipient of the peace prize. 🔴 When a car bomb struck Denmark’s embassy in Pakistan after Danish newspapers republished the Muhammad cartoons, former Danish foreign minister Per Stig Møller says Pillay’s advice was not to defend freedom of expression, but to introduce censorship. 🔴 Her response to Charlie Hebdo was no better. She called the magazine “doubly irresponsible” for publishing Muhammad cartoons, described them as “malicious and deliberately provocative,” and said she “fully understands why people wish to protest strongly.” In other words, when Islamists answer speech with threats and murder, Pillay’s instinct is to rebuke those exercising free speech rather than the extremists. 🔴 In 2022, Pillay defended fellow UN commissioner Miloon Kothari after he invoked the antisemitic trope of a “Jewish lobby” controlling social media and questioned Israel’s UN membership. Kothari later apologised. A planned event honouring Pillay at Berlin City Hall was cancelled after the mayor withdrew support. 🔴 In 2010, she declined to attend the Nobel ceremony for the imprisoned Chinese democracy campaigner Liu Xiaobo, citing a low-level scheduling conflict in Geneva, as Beijing pressured foreign officials to boycott the event. 🔴 At the antisemitic Durban II conference in 2009, Pillay remained seated while Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad delivered his tirade against Israel and Western delegations walked out. She condemned the speech afterwards—but later admitted that she had been “naive” about Ahmadinejad. 🔴 And a review of her first two years as UN human-rights chief found no public statements by Pillay on human rights abuses in dictatorships as Cuba, North Korea, Eritrea, Saudi Arabia, Sudan or Belarus. This is the track record on which the Nobel Committee—and a chorus of commentators around the world—now celebrate this activist as a champion of human rights, freedom and peace. Despicable.

A Sudanese rights group says Egyptian warplanes killed 72 civilian miners. Israel was not involved. We regret to inform you that this incident therefore does not meet the minimum requirements for international outrage.

Who was first? Palestinians or Jews? The answer is not 'either or'. In the Egyptian Museum in Cairo stands a slab of black granite carved around 1208 BCE. Its hieroglyphs celebrate the victories of the pharaoh Mernepta: “Israel is laid waste; his seed is not.” The display makes no mention that more than three thousand years ago, an Egyptian king who knew nothing of the Hebrew Bible recorded that a people called Israel was living in Canaan. The modern pro-Islamist claim that Jews are latecomers is historically false. Numerous ancient records refute it. Around 840 BCE, King Mesha of Moab carved a stone boasting of his war against Israel and naming the Israelite king, Omri. A ninth-century BCE inscription found at Tel Dan refers to the “House of David.” In 701 BCE, the Assyrian king Sennacherib recorded his siege of “Hezekiah the Judean” in Jerusalem. These records are written by people with every reason to ignore Israel, that confirm that an Israelite and Judean people lived in the hills of Canaan for centuries before Rome existed. The second claim is that Palestinians are an ancient people of the region, even older than Israel. This also fails. The word Palestine is truly old, but it never referred to the people who carry that name today. Herodotus used Palaistinē in the fifth century BCE, and it comes from the Philistines, a seafaring people who arrived on the southern coast around 1200 BCE. A 2019 study of ancient DNA from Ashkelon, published in Science Advances, found that the Philistines brought European-related ancestry with them, and that within two centuries it had been absorbed into the local population. The Philistines disappeared after Babylon destroyed their cities around 604 BCE. Rome revived their name in about 135 CE, after crushing the Bar Kokhba revolt, and renamed the province of Judea as Syria Palaestina. The Arab armies came in the 630s CE, some 1,800 years after Merneptah’s scribe carved the word Israel. They brought new rulers, a language, and a religion, and over the centuries most of the population adopted all three. What we call the distinctly Palestinian national identity arrived much later. The Palestinian historian Rashid Khalidi, no friend of Zionism, dates its emergence in his book Palestinian Identity to the late Ottoman period and the early twentieth century. Under the British Mandate, “Palestine” was attached to any group that lived in the region, including Christians, Muslims, and Jews, that the country’s leading English-language Jewish newspaper was called the Palestine Post. It became the Jerusalem Post in 1950. Modern genetic studies show that both Jews and Levantine Arabs, including Palestinians, carry substantial similar ancestry from ancient populations. But historically, the Jewish people have an independently documented presence in that land going back more than three thousand years. Palestinians are, in large part, Arab descendants of the land’s long-term inhabitants, but their national identity is about a century old. As to the claim of who lived in the land first, between Jews and Palestinians, the answer is not close. Anyone who stands on a campus and calls the Jews of Israel foreign colonizers in their ancestral home is arguing with a granite slab in Cairo that names a Judean king in Jerusalem nearly 1,300 years before Muhammad was born. Stones never lie.

Three years have passed since the horror of October 7. But we must all understand that, for the families whose loved ones were murdered by the butchers of Hamas, for those whose lives were torn apart, and for the survivors carrying wounds no eye can see, that morning has never truly ended. Earlier this year, I stood at Nova. There are places where silence speaks louder than words, and Nova is one of them. Young people from many nations had gathered there to dance, to laugh, to celebrate life, and their lives were stolen by the darkness of hatred and terror. In Albania, we have one word that contains an entire moral code: Besa. A promise that cannot be broken. In Europe’s darkest hour, our grandparents kept that promise by sheltering Jews from the Holocaust, risking everything to save people marked for death. Today, that inheritance demands something of us. It demands that memory never surrender to indifference, that grief never be abandoned to loneliness, that antisemitism never again be allowed to hide behind silence, slogans or excuses, and that we remain faithful to our friends even through their darkest hours. To every mother, father, child and family mourning today: May the memory of your loved ones be an eternal blessing🇦🇱🙏🇮🇱

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲: The co-pilot volunteered to be arrested and interrogated. The captain volunteered to be stabbed. Flightradar24 recorded a fake dive in real time. ADS-B Exchange independently recorded the exact same fake dive. Saudi ATC and radar logs recorded a fake emergency and landing. UAE ATC records logged the departure of a flight supposedly involved in an incident that never happened. Israeli ATC records logged the expected arrival of that same flight. The flight data recorder recorded fake altitude and control inputs. The cockpit voice recorder somehow matched the fake story too. Saudi aviation authorities agreed to write a preliminary assessment confirming a fake incident. UAE investigators agreed to open a real investigation into a staged event. Roughly 174 passengers agreed to fake an emergency and film it from every angle. Passengers agreed to storm the cockpit on cue and then give interviews afterward. Tabuk Airport and Saudi air traffic control agreed to handle a fake emergency landing. Saudi medical staff agreed to treat fake injuries and keep the secret. Israeli officials agreed to publicly discuss an incident they knew was fake. Ben Gurion Airport staff and ambulances agreed to wait for a plane that was never really in danger. News outlets independently verified fake passenger videos and all somehow reached the same conclusion. Passenger videos and photos from multiple phones all showed the same fake blood and chaos. The aircraft itself was physically damaged as part of the fake story. Saudi hospital records documented injuries from an attack that supposedly never happened. Custody and transfer records were created to document the pilots being moved to the UAE. Saudi authorities put the incident in writing in their preliminary assessment. Multiple governments and organizations issued matching official statements. Independent news organizations all separately reported the same fake event. The FlyDubai flight crew agreed to fake the entire incident. The cabin crew agreed to act terrified for the whole flight. FlyDubai management agreed to issue statements about an incident they knew was fake. So the theory requires hundreds of passengers, airline employees, medical staff, investigators, three countries’ aviation systems, flight-tracking services, journalists, physical aircraft damage, hospital records, radar data, and official documents to all be coordinated perfectly without anyone exposing it.

Just a question, following yesterday's #Flydubai hijack attempt: Why has there yet to be invented a button for the pilot, which unseals the cockpit, sends a hijack code to all relevant towers and takes control of the stick to ensure plane cannot be brought down by hijackers? Seriously, WTH? Why is this not standard??

Last week, Tal Amselem took her family to the Sea of Galilee. Before wading in, she slipped off her three rings and asked her young daughter to carry them up the beach to her mother, sitting a few meters away, for safekeeping. They were nearly home when Tal asked for the rings back. Her mother handed her only two. The engagement ring was gone. “I thought I was going to faint,” she said. Tal is the widow of Avichai Amselem, a reservist killed in battle for Israeli territory on October 9, having rushed out to defend the country following the October 7 attacks. In tears, she called Eitan, a metal detectorist, who told her to stop crying and promised the ring would be back in her hands within the hour. She also called her uncles, who turned around and drove back to the lake. By the time they arrived, the whole beach was on its feet. Eitan put out a call, and soon around 15 detectorists had gathered. Not long after, a young man named Amir Shor, who had come with his mother and his detector, found the ring in the water. It had apparently slipped from her daughter’s hand moments after Tal handed it over. Another volunteer drove all the way from Ma’alot, over an hour away, a reservist due back on duty who’d had tickets to a show that day; his partner told him to skip the performance and go help. “Since Avichai was killed, my girls and I have been held from every direction,” Tal said. “I know that for any help I need, however small, I only have to ask and everyone comes running. What a rare people.” (Credit @YinonMagal)

LA Times on Maryam Dawas, 2025: "Doctors confirmed that her condition is solely the result of hunger and malnutrition." Official fundraising website of Maryam Dawas, 2026: "Maryam has a serious immune disorder that attacks her body every day, leaving her weak and vulnerable." Reminder that many of the most viral images of skeletal Palestinian children—presented by news outlets as victims of famine last August—were like Maryam, in that they were suffering from complicated medical issues, including autoimmune disorders and cystic fibrosis. Last August, The Free Press contacted the LA Times to alert them of our reporting. They did not respond to our request for comment. Their story remains uncorrected on their website.
