Today Nova Scotians are mourning the loss of a woman who died during the flooding in our province.
My thoughts are with her loved ones and everyone who is grieving this tragic loss.
I want to thank the first responders, emergency workers, volunteers and municipal teams who are working tirelessly to keep people safe and support communities affected by the flooding.
To everyone in Nova Scotia, please continue to take care of yourselves and each other and follow the advice of local authorities. Stay off the roads while the weather is bad. Your safety is our priority.
Richmond County District RCMP, together with ground search and rescue and fire services volunteers, recovered the body of a woman reported missing September 5. rcmp.ca/en/nova-scotia/news/…

Please stay off the roads unless your trip is absolutely necessary.
Heavy rainfall has caused dozens of damaged roads in Cape Breton and Eastern Mainland Nova Scotia. Conditions can change quickly, and some roads may be unsafe or impassable.
If you don’t need to travel, stay home and wait for conditions to improve.
If you must travel:
• Call 511 to check on road conditions before leaving.
• Watch for closures and travel advisories.
• Never drive through flooded or damaged roadways.
• Turn around if you encounter unsafe conditions.
Your best route right now may be no route at all.
Stay safe and stay informed.

Our crews are out across Eastern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton assessing damage to roads and bridges.
We will know the full details after the storm ends and water recedes.
Crews and equipment will be relocated from other parts of the province to complete repairs, if needed.

Well, that was a rather surprising yet incredible aurora display last night! The stats were decent, but not amazing. But the show was the best I've seen since last October! Three glorious hours of twilight aurora goodness.

The rarely photographed "winter waterspout" and people surfing in Lake Erie off of Fort Erie, Canada, on freezing day in December! We don't know which is a rarer sight, the winter waterspout or the surfers! icwr.ca
