I was raised in an #openadoption. I stand for family preservation, #adoptee rights & ORIGINAL birth certificate access.

To glorify open adoption, or even place it one step above closed adoption, allows the #adoption industry to capitalize and continue corrupt practices. ANY adoption severs a family. #openadoption #adoptee #familypreservation

I just can’t get this out of my head. It’s galling to me to hear an expert say that open adoption is an ethical practice. Ethical for who exactly? It’s 2022. I’m not calling family separation ethical.

Let me be real frank. Open adoption doesn’t change a damn thing. It’s still adoption. #openadoption #adoption

who keep the adoption industry humming on the backs of helpless infants & then turn around and want to act as if they had no clue & are super interested in adoption trauma need to take a long hard look in the mirror.

generations were uneducated about #adoption & there was little out there for even the most well-intentioned folks. That’s not true anymore. We are talking about #adoption. We are finding our families. We’re writing books & we’re getting laws changed to open our records. APs ...

Sorry to highjack your thread, Jill. Just been really bothered lately by APs and some adoptees who act as if the lifelong trauma & loss is somehow a *surprise* to APs & not anything they knew or could have anticipated. It’s disingenuous & I’m tired of it. Sure - maybe previous ..

It cracks me up that people suggest that APs of infants care about adoption-related trauma. C’mon. Get real. They paid $50k to pretend the kid is theirs. They cut this kid off from her family & changed her birth cert. They knew what they were doing & they did it for themselves.

Exactly, Jill. A baby may need care. Temporarily or for longer. Let’s provide that. There’s no need to also wipe out their identity, create a fake birth certificate for them, sever them from their family tree & keep them from knowing where they come from. That’s all for APs.

⬇This. My (bio) mom just needed a few years of support. My (bio) dad wasn't told about me. Did I really need my *entire family* replaced & my ancestry/genealogy irrevocably deleted with a judge's signature? Adoption isn't for adoptees. It's for the adopters. #AdopteeVoice

And if they do talk about their adopted kids online, they sure as hell better not complain when the kid grows up and returns the favor. #adoption
Do. Not. Talk. About. Your. Adopted. Child. Online. Period. The nicknames don't change the fact that it's not your information to share.

Americans: let's stop worrying about all the "orphans" around the world. They aren't for you. Let the countries they live in sort them out.

Honestly, how crazy is this? This is current Ohio law. It says that, if you need to forge a document to make it look like what it isn't, go ahead! Feel free. In fact, we require you to do that.

Hey #adoptee if you want to know anything about adoption, just ask Brooks. He's not adopted but can teach us so much. We infantilized #adoptees need people like this to educate us. xitter.cf/Brooks_the_Lab/status/…

ATTENTION ADOPTIVE FAMILIES: I KNOW THIS MAY BE SHOCKING, BUT YOUR ADOPTEE IS ACTUALLY RELATED TO PEOPLE. WHO ARE NOT YOU. BY BLOOD. REALLY FOR REALS RELATED BY BLOOD TO PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT YOU. I REALIZE THIS SHOCKS AND APPALLS YOU, BUT YOU MUST ACCEPT IT. IT IS THE TRUTH.

So I feel like society needs to get consistent on this: is it a secret that we shouldn’t have to reveal & our birth mothers deserve “privacy,” or is it something that should be freely disclosed on a form like this? Can’t have it both ways. #adoption
