the psychology behind good NFT pfps.
let's use @ChogNFT for an example because i'm a huge fan of their design and their collection looks incredible.
personally, it comes down to 3 things:
1) "how does it look on the timeline?"
first, we have to remind ourselves that these pfps will be used on X (and maybe other apps too). therefore, we have to view it in two different aspects:
• mobile
• desktop/laptop
ultimately, it's a really small circle we're working with. so if your design isn't properly taking up the right amount of space, it will be difficult to recognize, yet alone, look "good" on the timeline.
2) the composition of the design
let's take a look at chog's design in full view.
• 90% of the composition is the character.
• 10% is the background color.
personally, this is unlike most traditional collections out there where there's a lot more of the background showing compared to the main character (azuki, pudgy penguins, degods)
but, i have to admit and respect chog's decision on going this route because it matches their brand, vibe, and emotion they bring onto the timeline (memey, bold, comedic, etc.)
3) color combos
i know many of these collections are generated, but when it's curated the right way where certain colors stack on top of each other really nicely, it becomes a pfp that's fairly aesthetically pleasing to look at.
in our example, we're using @bigchog and his choice of red dominant colors. the supporting colors like cream white, the dark grey, black, white, and occasional pink makes the red stand out.
this can be a side topic, but it takes an "eye" to understand and know which colors look good together and which ones don't.
if you want more help on developing the "eye", check out my recent article pinned on my profile.

personal update: i’m excited to share that i’m now working in growth at the monad foundation.
a massive thank you to @_jhunsaker, @keoneHD, and @0x_eunice for the opportunity
monad is in great hands under your leadership, and i’m excited to help show the rest of the market why it’s the frontier L1 💜
A bit of context, because I can see why the profile might look strange from the outside.
I was building on Avalanche before this. I recently moved my focus to Monad because the ecosystem and community felt significantly more active. @ChogNFT was actually one of the things that caught my attention — a relatively small-cap memecoin with a huge social presence, tens of thousands of holders, and a community that was clearly producing real attention and culture. On top of that, I genuinely liked the IP.
The new X account is intentional. I didn’t want to make a public announcement around moving my projects from Avalanche to Monad or bring attention to myself before I had actually started building here. I have no connection with the Chog team, but I would love to connect with them.
I bought Krown because I wanted to participate in the ecosystem and be part of the family.
I think ecosystem growth comes from builders, users and collectors actually putting capital and conviction behind the things they believe in.
As far as I know, this became the largest NFT sale on Monad to date. I’m happy to have contributed to that, and I plan to keep contributing to the ecosystem beyond one purchase.
Would be pretty funny if the conclusion ends up being: “team wallet” because I liked the art too much.
Well this is a good achievement grats but,
When i visit his profile there are 2 things drew my attention and made me feel weird:
1) the X profile bio of the one who paid the highest amount says “dev on Monad” so once again we trade with each other without having new users, sadly.
2) the profile has been created this month and only shared couple posts about Chog. Might be dead wrong but it made me feel like someone from the team created the account.
I wish one of the most influential and qualitative NFT person had made this purchase tho in terms of bringing Chog to mainstream.

it took me a while to understand this:
as a builder, it’s on me to create value for my community and my project.
we used to blame the circumstances and say, “monad should do this. monad should do that.”
but somewhere along the way, i realized we’re the ones holding the wheel.
i’m not here waiting for favors. i’m not here asking for support. i’ll rather earn it than beg.
through the work. through consistency. through showing up every single day and steering this project in the direction that creates the most value for the people who believe in chog.
i know where i want chog to go, and i’m going to do everything in my power to get it there.
fudders can fud.
haters can hate.
doubters can doubt.
we’ll keep building, we’ll keep showing up.
nothing is going to stop chog from reaching the top now.
(s/o paul for being a good supporter of the ecosystem. we need more people like you)
monad is not solana.
my original thesis was that @monad is solana on the evm.
> performance oriented
> application driven
> purple vc coin
i was wrong. L1s win (or fail) on their own merits. the edge for monad is a maximalist view of the potential of the underlying tech:
> consistent / long horizon frontier execution on infra (MEV, <200ms blocktimes etc.)
> that max the amount of lego blocks
> on the most widely used (most AI adaptable) VM
> w/ both degen / hand written thank you note (things that don't scale) culture (s/o $JAMES, @keoneHD)
this makes the creation of net new "breakout" applications (both consumer / b2b) both likely, as well as unpredictable.
where i'd like it to be more like $SOL
> builders who care about other builders winning (s/o @ThogardPvP)
> competition / responsiveness / urgency at the edge of the attention curve (s/o @1stBenjaNAD)
the above is why when
1) people making things ask for help or
2) memes have a chance to break out
i'm quick to respond / act loudly. selfishly, when whole ecosystem wins, i win.
