Today, the Ohio Senate passed Senate Bill 104, the transgender bathroom ban legislation. The bill now moves to the desk of Governor Mike DeWine. We strongly urge people to contact his office to urge him to veto this discriminatory legislation: 614-466-3555.
By amending this policy into an unrelated bill that had already gone through the committee process in the House and Senate and had passed out of the Senate in its initial form, the bathroom ban was able to bypass the Senate committee process entirely.
The Ohio Senate is speaking now on the floor about S.B. 104, a bill regarding the College Credit Plus program that was amended in the House over the summer to include the trans bathroom ban legislation.

To clarify: The bathroom ban legislation was first introduced as House Bill 183, which was making its way through the traditional committee process.
By amending it into SB 104, the legislature is preventing Ohioans from being able to speak out against this harmful bill.

⚠️The Ohio Senate is now convening -- they may vote on SB 104, an anti-trans bathroom bill requiring individuals in primary and secondary schools (as well as institutions of higher education) to use restrooms and other facilities that align with their sex assigned at birth. 🧵

The stakes are high for this pending decision from the Tenth District Court of Appeals in our challenge to Ohio's ban on gender affirming care for trans youth.
In either outcome, the ruling could be appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court. Stay tuned.

We are partnering w/some great orgs to host a candidate forum for those under 25 at East High! We hear a lot about how much young people engage or don't engage in politics & this is a chance for them to reset the discourse on their own terms!

⚖️CASE UPDATE: Late yesterday, we filed a motion in the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, asking for an injunction to halt the enforcement of House Bill 68 pending appeal.
Our clients cannot wait until the resolution of this appeal to access the gender-affirming care they need.🏳️⚧️
