🧵 Today the Centre for Justice Policy is publishing 10 new grooming gang sentencing remarks from Rochdale, Huddersfield, Rotherham, High Wycombe, Nottingham and Chelmsford. Some had no reporters in the room, and coverage of the rest missed much of what the judges said.

In September 2024, Sheffield CC sentenced seven men for abusing two girls in care in Rotherham between 2003 - 2008. At just 11 yrs old she was assaulted by Mohammed Amar and Yaser Ajaib. A man called Mohammed Siyab, would later traffic her, and Abid Saddiq, indecently assaulted her at 12 and raped her at 14. The other girl was 15 when Tahir Yasin began raping her, 26 times over five months, ending with two trips to a hotel where she was to have sex with other men. The judge took two years off his sentence for ‘good character’. Abid Saddiq had been jailed for 20 years in 2019 for similar offences from 1998 to 2002, and in this case was convicted of raping the second girl twice. transcripts.openjusticeuk.or…

I will link the trial transcript we released again below, Kiran Kaur: - knew Henry had been stabbed - proceeded to ‘wail’ on the street herself and approached a neighbour saying Henry was the attacker - took her son’s bloodied knife and hid it, didn’t mention this to police
EXCL: The mother of Henry Nowak’s killer will be released early from prison. Kiran Kaur will serve just one year of her three year prison sentence for taking the knife from her son. She’ll be released around the anniversary of Henry’s death in Dec. itv.com/news/2026-10-15/mum-…

Today, as part of the open justice project, and at the request of the victim, we are publishing the full trial of Khaliz Ali Alshimery. An Illegal migrant found guilty of raping an autistic student in Oxford while living in taxpayer funded accommodation
EXCLUSIVE: The full story of Khaliz Ali Alshimery, the illegal migrant who hunted women and raped a 20-year-old autistic student in Oxford, and the system that failed her. • In court, his barrister accused the student he raped of exposing herself, grabbing at his penis, and demanding £50 for sex • Migrant NGOs and protesters fought his transfer from a hotel to a barge days before he attacked her • The BBC ran 3 stories on his conviction and never once mentioned he was an illegal migrant • The victim's letter to the Home Office asking what they knew about Alshimery went unanswered • He's now exploiting a "stateless Bidoon" loophole to avoid deportation "It feels like his country now, not mine," his victim told me. In short order we’ll be releasing the transcript of this trial. Given the volume of asylum seeker rape cases in the news, it warrants looking at what these trials are like, how they’re conducted & the impact they have. Huge credit to Sophie for coming forward to do this

One last comment on this. We redacted the names of witness & police officers given previous threats and we redacted addresses because the register shows the Digwa address as being social housing which likely has a new family in there now. Not required, but the ethical thing to do
