On 14th August, I was delighted to attend and speak at the 70th IPSF World Congress in Nairobi, in a dynamic panel on Environmental Sustainability, One Health, and Climate Change alongside Dr. Tracie Muraya, Dr. Sam Wanjohi , and Ms. Federica Castellana , I shared how the One Health Society-Tanzania @onehealth_tz operationalises the One Health approach and innovates around it with invaluable support and guidance from the Prime Minister’s Office – One Health Section, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries and other stakeholders. I learned a great deal from Federica Castellana who shared powerful perspectives on integrating the One Health approach in humanitarian settings, a linkage that is often overlooked but critically important. Looking ahead to future capacity building and policy development, I emphasised the urgent need to change how we think across programs and projects by embedding One Health competencies lnkd.in/ebp4JegC into our work. On the policy front, I stressed the importance of policy coherence across different sectors to dismantle the deeply existing silos in our systems. I shared about the New One Health textbook in which I co-authored the chapter on Policy and Governance, a resource I believe will serve as a valuable reference for understanding One Health principles in action. lnkd.in/eZ5eJ2Xt
