The Current Landscape of Humanoid Robots with RoboStrategy xitter.cf/i/broadcasts/1oJMvNVLo…

I recently talked with Forbes on where @Robostrategy sees the Humanoid space going. In the next few years we will pass the intelligence threshold to bring humanoid demand to the hundreds of millions, however manufacturing will be a key constraint. We could see millions of humanoids produced by 2029, with widespread adoption in homes by the early 2030s.

We led Maven Robotics' $100M Series A
Apple previously had an incredible special projects group building autonomous systems that attracted some of the top talent relevant to building a great AI Robotics company. The core Maven Robotics team was assembled from that group after it was shut down.
We often see many flashy demos of robots in the lab, but the Maven team is one of the few that have brought the robots out of labs, pilots, and into production environments with multiple shifts and >99% uptime.
Our thesis has always been that the winning robotics companies will be vertically integrated, have deep cross functional experience, be aggressive in prioritizing real deployments and Maven is a great embodiment of that

I met with the @RoboStrategy team yesterday. It is a new robotics investment firm that we all can invest in (not investing advice) but so impressed by the team and the work they are doing to really understand the robotics ecosystem and all the players in it.
I'm not compensated or involved, but if you wanted to invest in robotics and you aren't a rich VC this is definitely an investment vehicle to learn about and they are making moves.
JUST IN:
@mavenrobotics just emerged from stealth with $100M raised, and the founding story is one of the best I've heard in robotics.
In 2024, CEO @hamzaderbas had a cartoon of a robot and a team of people.
He heard a large consumer goods company was in town meeting four rival robot companies about automation. He talked his way into the room, and instead of pitching, asked to visit their factories.
He won the deal. Beating companies with actual robots.
Two years later? Here is Maven building its own robots! 😮💨
The robots are wheeled, dual-arm platforms moving at 10 mph with 30 kg payload, built for mixed palletizing, one of the most labour-intensive tasks in warehouse logistics.
Within 48 hours of goods hitting shelves, retailers want to change the mix based on real-time demand. Today that's all done by humans running around warehouses. Maven automates the whole thing end-to-end.
The $100M round comes from @RoboStrategy, @localglobevc, Vine Ventures and XTX Markets.
Plans? 250 third-gen robots and a fourth-gen platform in design.
Derbas spent nine years at Apple's special projects group, widely believed to be the self-driving car programme, before founding Maven with his brother Khalid.
His take on bipedal humanoids in warehouses is worth reading:
"They make zero sense for anything they're doing. Very complex, unreliable, and add unnecessary cost. ROI is the name of the game."
Harsh. But probably right for most industrial use cases today.
Maven's thesis is to solve one customer problem at a time.
Pick problems big enough that each one is a multi-billion-dollar market. Master the skills. Move to the next.
Grounded. Profitable. Scaling.
This is how you build a robotics company.

Agility Robotics' S-4 is public, and it's the first hard look at the numbers behind the $2.5B valuation.
2025 net sales: $1.78M. Net loss: $138.1M. Gross margin: -151%. Management concludes substantial doubt exists about the company's ability to continue as a going concern, and its own accountants call it a development stage company.
64% of that revenue came from related parties.
So does the backlog. The $300M in "committed multi-year orders" announced in June is one contract: 1,000 Digit v5 units on a three-year RaaS term, placed by a customer the filing identifies as a related party, with 453 stock purchase warrants issued per robot. Agility says it is still evaluating how to account for the transaction, which matters, because warrants paid to a customer often come off revenue.
The competition section names eight rivals: Boston Dynamics, Tesla, Apptronik, Figure AI, 1X, Sanctuary AI, Hexagon, NEURA. Not one Chinese manufacturer, five weeks after the FCC action Agility publicly campaigned for.
$BOT is a Nasdaq-listed closed-end venture fund that gives public-market investors access to cutting-edge private robotics companies.
Robotics ETFs can't do this. Rule 22e-4 caps open-end funds at 15% illiquid assets, so they hold public names instead:
$BOTZ — 41.16% in six foreign industrials
$ARKQ — 28.46% in Tesla, AMD, Alphabet, Amazon, TSMC
$ROBO — largest position is 2.10%; heavily diversified into industrial automation and other industries besides robotics.
Most of the value in robotics is still private. $BOT was built for that.
