It’s really difficult to not be discouraged by our healthcare system right now. We just had a medical emergency this week and are looking at paying all out of pocket, because being in ministry doesn’t come with insurance. Over 6k for 2 hrs in ER. Who can afford this? Not me.
This was a very uplifting conversation. There is so much comfort and encouragement to be found in the doctrine of the Ascension. I’m very glad @PatAbendroth took the time to write his book and hop on the podcast with me.
In this ep, Josh is joined by @PatAbendroth to talk about his new book The Ascension: A Forgotten Gospel Doctrine. Listen wherever you get your pods and watch on YouTube.

The younger generations are fed up with the superficial, surface level Christianity of today. RC and GO offer historical roots that are attractive. All the more reason for local churches to embrace a covenantal/confessional/liturgical practice. The fields are ripe for harvest!
Are you feeling discouraged after last night? Have a listen. #Midterms2026
God‘s perfect, sovereign will is accomplished through the means that He ordains. Whoever sits in political authority is there because God desired it to be so. He directs the hearts of kings. Do not forget where your home resides and do not forget who your God is. Hope abounds!

Jesus rule and reign doesn’t diminish or grow stronger because a political party is elected or kicked out
Sound theology was never meant to be reserved for the halls of academia. It was meant for the fields, the shops, and the common places. Where all may hear of their common need and all may know of their Savior. Make theology practical again.
There’s an entire subplot about Elrond learning to accept his daughters love for someone outside of their own race because he realizes it’s not about Aragorn’s lineage, but rather his character that makes him worthy of the crown, the sword, and Arwen.
I hate fake nerds.
If the average pastor from 1677 wanted to add law where liberty existed then yes, they would get rightfully called out. That’s how scriptural authority works.
Replying to @joshlofthus
If the average baptist pastor from 1677 was on Twitter commenting on topics of today, you’d mock them.
Celebrate Reformation Day the way the Reformers intended. With heavy metal.

Grab your hammers boys! They obviously didn’t hear us the first time.
Happy Reformation Day!

Podcast equipment needs to be more expensive.
Sad.
A heart that is about the business of worship will be full in the times of need. Make sure to take time today to worship your Savior. He is indeed an Awesome God.
Being “Reformed” does not simply mean believing in the doctrines of grace as some would surmise. It is much deeper and grander than that. The Reformed Christian is:
Calvinistic in their soteriology.
Covenantal in their interpretation.
Confessional in their practice.
