Beyond the disrespect to survivors hiring Acevedo represents & the fact that he’s a legal liability (his failed leadership has cost Austin and Houston taxpayers millions), it’s also perplexing that Watson/Garza think HE’S the guy to patch things up with the police union.

Nightshade is out! Nightshade poisons AI models if your art or images are taken without permission, Glaze protects you from AI mimicry. It's recommended you Nightshade first, then Glaze. A version that does both is coming. Read this thread for more info. Go get 'em 🫡
Today is the day. Nightshade v1.0 is ready. Performance tuning is done, UI fixes are done. You can download Nightshade v1.0 from nightshade.cs.uchicago.edu Please read the what-is page and also the User's Guide on how to run Nightshade. It is a bit more involved than Glaze

It's nuts how long it's taken to shed the toxic habits/views I had during my school days, I keep finding new ways I used to act like a crazy person. like, the realization that my students aren't lazy, they just don't come to class when they feel bad like I used to is surreal

All arguments about opera are dumb as hell but damn Debrah’s really hittin’ some fascinating lows here
EXCLUSIVE: I talked to the general manager at WCPE about her plans not to air six of the Met Opera radio broadcasts this season -- all the recent works & 3 of the 6 written by Black or Mexican composers. It was an interesting conversation. npr.org/2023/09/29/120242560…

In my (admittedly short) time in higher Ed I don’t think I’ve known more than maybe a handful of people who have gotten something good out of a frat/sorority. It’s a pay to play shortcut to having a community and that community tends to be toxic and false
The existence of male fraternities is a net negative for the overwhelming majority of college students

I escaped friends, find me in the other place. Idk if I'll be in elonspace much longer, if the other place is good I might make it my new feelings repository. If it sucks I'll be back in like a week to carry on screaming into the void

BREAKING: Via 313 has fired Leah Meltzer, the president of RWU. This is the latest offense in a long pattern of outrageous illegal retaliation. We’re holding a sip-in at Via tonight to demand what we always have: an end to Via’s unionbusting and a living wage for all Via workers

To cut off this ramble before I lose the ability to stop, cauterizing my tendency to fill space with work was just step one. I really thought step two would come naturally without the work pressure; it's going to have to be a lot more purposeful than that. 6/fin
