Among NHL D with 100+ minutes at 5v5, Bouchard is: 1st in GF/60 (7.44) 6th in GA/60 (0.78) 36th in xGF/60 (3.24) T2nd in xGA/60 (1.65) The offence has been crazy, but the underlying numbers suggest the Oilers should have a 2:1 edge in his minutes - mostly thru great defence.
The Oilers are now up 19 to 2 in Evan Bouchard’s minutes at even strength lol

Over the past three seasons per AllThreeZones, Draisaitl ranks first among current Oiler forwards in controlled zone exits per 60. Second place belongs to Mathieu Joseph.

Third line at 5v5, first unit power play, and no higher than second unit PK. And that's fine, he's good value at that cap hit in those roles. The PP has always been RNH's bread & butter, and at 33 it's time for his usage to evolve from jack-of-all-trades to specialist.
No GM has ever truly embraced the idea of Nuge as 3C but everytime Dickenson fails to play five games in a row makes me think they should

It's too bad Eyssimont doesn't PK but he's still been a handy player over his NHL career.

Devon Levi is the story of last night, but Jake Walman/Ty Emberson going 9-1 by shot attempts as a pairing is awfully important too.

I've been thinking about that Bouchard video package for a few days now. I'd like him to reduce is the insistence he sometimes has on forcing the puck up to 97/29, even if it's not optimal. But he's just so wonderfully quick at transitioning the puck from defence to offence.

He's made his passing decision most of the time before the puck reaches his stick, and that drives the attack the other way. I also don't know that I've ever seen a better defenceman on the offensive blue line. Just incredible at making tight space plays even under pressure.

Classic Bouch game. Give him a second or two of time and space and he'll make a better touch than 95%+ of NHL defenders. Put him under pressure and he'll still identify and go for the "right" play but with occasionally tough results. Reads off 97 and 29 brilliantly but his quick breakout ability + knack for filtering shots through and finding open space in the offensive zone explains why his results without them on the ice are typically so strong.
