May the best of 2020 be the worst of 2021! (Credits to my kids who made this a couple of hours ago!)
RIP Dr Peter Tun MBBS MRCP.
A father, a mentor, a colleague and a friend. I will miss you in the office and in clinic. I will miss our chats about kids and holiday plans. RIP my friend.

The new iPhone is so expensive; it’s got to the stage that if you trip over, land on your leg, and hear a crack.... you hope you’ve broken a bone instead of cracking the screen.

Me, doing an AMTS: And what’s the name of the prime minister?
Patient: Theresa May
Me: Ah almost, it’s Boris Johnson now!
Patient: Oh Jesus Christ, not him.
... and that’s why I gave them 11/10 for cognition. It’s not what you know it’s how you deal with the info you’ve got.
Excellent advice! 😀
Hi new doctors! #TipsForNewDocs
Take pride in your ward round. You’re the “driver”... Know where your patients are and what is wrong with them.
...and post stroke rehabilitation is in major need - as patients are younger and more complex. Vocational rehabilitation is one of the best ways forward.
New research finds that stroke deaths in England halved in the first decade of the 21st century, but stroke rates are on the increase in younger people bmj.com/content/365/bmj.l177…
Cycled back from the RCP to Waterloo station - 14 minutes in which Taxis took absolutely no notice of someone on a bike! They are a world unto themselves! It was a good SAC though and I look forward to a year of working with some very experienced Rehab Physicians!
There is a severe lack of beds and specialists in the area of rehabilitation. Very few understand the difficulty in dealing with patients with brain injuries. A MDT process in a safe and contained environment is essential in the moderate / severe cases.
The 3rd and final report of the National Clinical Audit of Specialist Rehabilitation provides more evidence of cost efficiency of Specialist Rehabilitation (but also lack of capacity) - thanks to BSRM members/teams for their input #RehabilitationMedicine

So true! It is somewhat lonely (and very busy) but I do pop into the ward regularly to check that everything is ok (after all the doctors have gone home)! I’m sure I get a few odd looks! 😀

Wessex has already opens it applicants across all specialties and the Wessex CRs are evidence of this. I’m sure the @RCPLondon plan to extend this setup across the UK based on the success in Wessex! 😁 @CRSalisbury @drjenjoiner @HelenaE87 @HelenaE87 @RCP_QI xitter.cf/kwallacet/status/10116…
It looks like a brilliant scheme, I hope that in the future we can see the opportunity being shared with all specialities @RCSnews perhaps
