📢📢 Happy to share our new paper on @theAGU #GRL about Marine Heatwave's impact on pelagic marine phyto- & zoo-plankton using @bgc_argo together with satellites and models!
🌊#MarineHeatWaves are disrupting ocean ecosystems in the NW Mediterranean! CAREHeat results reveal up to a 70% reduction in phytoplankton biomass & cascading effects on the food chain.

🚨 Excited to share paper out today in @NatureClimate 🎉 with co-authors @rjbrewin & @xuerong_sun from @uniexecges, we show surface & subsurface phytoplankton at the BATS site respond to climate variability differently. 🌊 @UniofExeter nature.com/articles/s41558-0…
We used 33 years of data from the Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study (BATS) 📊and highlight the implications for and importance of monitoring phytoplankton below the ocean surface. #ClimateChange #Phytoplankton #MarineScience

Is antibiotic-resistant bacteria in 🇬🇧rivers a threat to public health? 💧🦠💊
Over the summer at the @UniofExeter we have been investigating whether swimming in #sewage polluted rivers and lakes across the UK 🇬🇧 increases the risk of carrying antibiotic-resistant E. coli in our guts.
But non-swimmers can carry these bacteria, too.
If you do not swim in rivers, lakes or the sea, take part in the #PooSticksStudy and help us understand how widespread these bugs are among the British public and if swimming in rivers is linked to changes in the likelihood of harbouring these types of bugs.
Interested? Request your kit now: bit.ly/poo-sticks
Find out more: ecehh.org/news/poo-sticks-ri…
Please share! The more people take part, the more confidence we can have in our findings.
