There have been numerous posts on social media from parents aghast at the revolving door of school and nursery acquired illness. Sometimes there’ll be a parent posting who has children with a wide age gap saying it’s worse now. 🧵

This is an awful situation. A man waits 25 hours for an ambulance and then an additional 3 hours for ambulance handover. He recovers enough for discharge to be considered, but then catches covid in hospital and dies. Why isn’t poor infection control also a systemic failure? 🧵1/3

I think non-disabled people are less afraid of catching COVID-19 because they still truly believe they will receive TV-quality medical care.
Disabled people know better… 😉

That Long COVID & ME/CFS game we all play where you have chores to do but no energy to get up, so you just lie there for hours hoping something will change.
Sometimes you even force yourself to get up & try to move, but then you're like, "Nope." And go right back to lying down.

VACCINE COST-EFFECTIVENESS
I want to talk about vaccine cost-effectiveness analysis & the methods used to determine eligibility for various vaccines.
You might think there’d be a consistent methodology for this important analysis…
…but apparently not.
Let’s dig into it… 🧵

After the tragic deaths of 3 young people earlier this year, I’m so pleased that teens are now being offered a MenB vaccine before starting uni…
…but WHY is the cost-effectiveness analysis for MenB vaccination so different to the analysis used for the COVID vaccine?

To those paying attention, none of this has come as a surprise.
Experts predicted this would happen from early on.

My new article is out on Substack!
This one takes a look at the dangerous epidemic of COVID denialism in the mainstream media and the genuine and more shady reasons behind it...
A voiceover is available for those who struggle to read.
I've also released a couple more youtube videos examining this serious issue in more detail, including calling out the Left for their disappointing complicity in the deafening silence. Channel in the first comment.
Many thanks to my first paid subscriber and founding member on Substack. This was an unexpected and wonderful surprise! I'm glad the advocacy is resonating.
I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday as much as possible!

Healthy people sometimes look at someone with chronic illness and think:
“You didn’t even do anything today.
Why are you so exhausted?”
Because you’re measuring activity.
We’re measuring cost.
Imagine waking up every morning with $100 worth of energy.
A shower costs you $3.
Getting dressed costs $2.
Driving somewhere costs $5.
You barely notice the withdrawals because there’s plenty in the account.
Now imagine waking up with $20.
The shower still costs $3.
Getting dressed still costs $2.
The drive still costs $5.
Except now, before lunch, half your account is gone.
That’s chronic illness.
We’re not lazy.
We’re budgeting.
Sometimes we skip the shower because we need those $3 to make dinner.
Sometimes we cancel plans because we’ve already spent tomorrow’s money.
Sometimes you see us sitting perfectly still and assume we’re doing nothing.
No.
We’re trying not to go into overdraft.
And the cruelest part?
People with $100 in the bank keep giving financial advice to people trying to survive on $20.
You cannot judge someone’s spending when you have no idea what their balance was when they woke up.

What a low bar that chronically ill patients are in awe when a doctor just believes and respects them.

I so love this kid. For as horrifically limited as his daily life is, he has a remarkably good attitude and makes the most of the windows where he has the energy and clarity of mind he so desperately wants more of. Bless him and the others suffering with #longcovid or #mecfs

But this decision-making will be better accepted by parents and the wider public if we changed the general narrative around attendance.
Attendance matters.
Of course it does.
But so does health. And common sense. And nuance. And pragmatism. And compassion. Every day...

1/Hannah, we have now almost 500,000 peer reviewed published research into long covid now. “Fatigue”, “post exertional malaise (PEM)” “Brain Fog” “difficulty concentrating” are not psychiatric symptoms. They have a pathological basis and clear demonstrable abnormalities 1/
Does anyone have a specific link to official guidance on why not to do a tilt table test if you have PEM. Thanks
Jo Summers (joissummers att blue sky) retweeted
Post exertional malaise (PEM) is the hallmark symptom of #MECFS
It’s not fatigue following activity. It is a dramatic deterioration and worsening of symptoms.

I've been sorting through my late Mum's items; paperwork, photos and stuff and I came across this booklet from mid 1960s issued by the British Medical Association @TheBMA called 'Doctors Orders'.
I wondered if it had advice on air quality & links to disease transmission.

But it wasn’t just the “initial guidance” that was flawed!
To this very day, the IPC guidance STILL does not reflect the latest science on AIRBORNE transmission.

Chris asks when the NHS IPC manual will be updated to reflect the latest science on AIRBORNE transmission.
