4 If you can afford it, pay for help
5 OK to start for vanity. Later, you might fall in love w/the craft

In August I traveled into the Zamfara forests for a rare interview with an army of bandits
For @newlinesmag I wrote about my bizarre day w/ these insurgents, who are waging a brutal war in which I'm not sure even they know what they ultimately hope to win

Teachers often go without adequate funding, paying out of pocket to support students. This crisis is no different as teachers work to lessen the inequities of distance learning.
In honor of #TeacherAppreciationDay, we must give teachers more equitable schools to return to.

“Love liberates. It doesn’t hold—that’s ego. Love liberates. Love says, ‘I love you. I love you if you’re in China. I love you if you’re in Harlem. I would like to be near you. I’d like to have your arms around me. But that’s not possible now, so I love you. Go.”

What if every year I love myself even more?
What if every year I can liberate myself even more?
What if every year I can be even more gentle with myself?
What if every year I can be even more compassionate with myself?
The fact that it is possible is so beautiful.
