@JessMacAI is a Canadian queer interdisciplinary artist whose practice moves between animation, GIFs, video, performance, drawing, installation, and digital media. Their work inhabits the strange territory between the intimate and the political, using humour, absurdity, vulnerability, and the uncanny to explore embodiment, trauma, gender, and systems of power. With a practice deeply rooted in internet culture and image circulation, MacCormack treats the digital not simply as a technology but as a space where identities can be performed, fragmented, transformed, and shared. More recently, Jess has incorporated AI into their practice, using generative imagery to explore dissociation, identity, gender, and the uncanny transformations of bodies and images.
Black Sheep II is the work I have picked, from their Black Sheep solo show I have curated for @objktone and presented during @artontezos_ Berlin last year.
This video explores the corrupted morality of a society where profit is the only value, told through the eyes of a traumatized child that believes in magic.
I may have stopped using AI but my work is still being exhibited. Now in Hven Galley in Tokyo, next year in Australia and Brazil.
Still available. My favourite GIF of all time (ok one of them) 💖🖤

For your consideration, here are four works from my 'Threadbare' series, which explores the parallel between two forms of cultural erasure: the dismissal of women's bodily experiences and the historical devaluation of textile arts as mere "craft"
