Whoa đŸ€Ż That's such a good idea! "It is still fast, typed, and cheap, but it answers with values directly extracted from the input, computed from it, or predicted beyond it."

@michellechen immense props to the team, and to the author of the blog post! It's so well-explained and the examples are great. I think this might be my favorite post on the blog this year!

In a bunch of different areas I keep exploring new ideas and then realizing "Damn, that's just Cloudflare OS again" It's like the LLM version of re-inventing trains from first principles
Prediction: Most people will stop using docs, slides, or spreadsheets in the next year, instead prompting an agent for custom code for every task. Each of these apps is just as "easy mode" version of something else that used to take far more time and skill to create: Docs: Easy mode web site. Slides: Easy mode video / animation. Spreadsheets: Easy mode custom app + database. But now you can just prompt an agent to build the "hard mode" version for you and they are damned good at it. (Note: I'm not suggesting that humans shouldn't write. You can still write text, and then ask an agent to turn it into a web site that supplements your text with diagrams, animations, hierarchical organization, etc.)

This came back across my feed so I'm reposting it again because it's a bop
We open sourced Void v1.1.11 and we made a music video for it. void.cloud

Progress! My eval reports now link directly to investigator traces, individual tool-call spans, and grader spans. You can click on a failed tool call's span ID, and inspect the command/error in context. Also according to my evals, Luna 6 is a weird little chaos gremlin.

I don’t think personal software will kill OSS and I think it’s very overrated. It’s super fun to jangle the keys in front of your own face and vibe code up a copy of something else that exists in this world. But truly owning it, operating it, having a vision for it kinda sucks! OSS still wins out on the a value proposition that it’s free and you can shunt those concerns off to someone else. The talking computers don’t actually know exactly what individual people want and most people don’t feel like just living with whatever an agent confabulated as a design and architecture. The future for OSS probably involves a token market where you can yield some tokens to allow a maintainer group make the right decisions for you.

"everyone is twelve now" still seems to perfectly explain so much of current discourse

🧠: Okay, so we are working on something really cool right now and want to present it to our peers in a technically proficient and approachab... 👄: GET IN BITCHES WE'RE DOING EVALS! Work in progress obviously, but stay tuned!

It's a shame Anthropic and OpenAI sub don't really give you programatic access to other models like text-to-speech and speech-to-text, so i've just been telling my agents to use the `cf ai run` command with *fantastic* results

I don't know how many tokens this used, but it was worth it.

lots of people have asked: "why would anyone optimize for sandbox startup time if you spend most of your time in the session". this is why. you only unlock serverless tool calling with sandboxes that start in single-digit milliseconds, with all of your data on them. and, when you do -- you can easily run agents with 40x less compute. check out what it looks like with a real agent trajectory

"I would estimate that AI agents are using 100x to 1000x more CPU resources than they actually need -- fueling the massive revenue spikes in a bunch of companies which are getting addicted to dollars that are going to go away in the next 12 months when the agents get efficient."

Cloud file systems are the next sandbox. Expect a Cambrian explosion with everyone building basically the same thing.

Human attention is precious and finite Anywhere you can better leverage it by applying mechanical attention, you probably should

I unironically think that having an agent spend 100k+ tokens making it easy to digest a 20 line change is a Really Good Idea
nobody reads pull request descriptions, so we made videos when @polylane submits a PR to you, we attach a video walkthrough explaining exactly what the issue is, and how it fixed it @viviane_trn wrote down how we built it here: polylane.com/blog/nobody-rea

when I look at the biggest mistakes we've made over the past year right up there is "rolled our own software" even if you can make a decent clone, the time maintenance is so onerous - I wish I had just swiped a credit card instead
Can I just say how tired I am of these kinds of remarks? They're getting more and more common as the internet has become armchair experts on all software and businesses. We build best in class software and make it available completly free. No one else in our category does that. No one. Don't want it? Dont use it. Sentry will absolutely run just fine on 32gb of memory, but thats not even the point. Its complex. That complexity comes from nearly two decades of development. Some of it is avoidable, some of it isnt. This is why cloud services exist - because we can amoratize the cost and complexity vs spending every waking hour optimizing every small part of a system to run on random low powered VPS. "Rewrite in Rust" - you don't maintain the software, nor do you undrestand what that means. An important chunk of Sentry is already in Rust (which could be C++ or Go!). The rest makes absolutely no sense to even suggest that. No one wants to work on a user facing web service with Rust, waiting on compile times non-stop. Nor do our customers. They want a great product, and they want to keep seeing improvements to that product. Our time is spent making it actually better for our 100k customers, not optimizing for your single use case. There is always opportunity for improvement, but takes like this are both ignorant and entitled.
