Trump only thinks that it's Zelenskyy who refuses to surrender, viewing him as the main obstacle standing between himself and a sweet dealmaking with Putin. But in reality, it's not Zelenskyy, it's the Ukrainian people who refuse to surrender. If our president decided, for some reason, to go against the people's will and capitulate by accepting Putin's conditions, he wouldn't last 20 seconds in office. And the notion that the Ukrainian people are "dying for Zelenskyy" is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. I've never met a single soldier who thinks that way. They are fighting because foreign invaders would otherwise occupy their homes, kidnap their children, steal their property, and kill them. That's why, Zelenskyy or no Zelenskyy, they would still defend their country.

If you have a spare 3 mins and 45 secs today, watch this fantastic grilling by Sally Nugent on BBC Breakfast. The very first time I've seen Farage questioned properly about his £5M bung, and it's fair to say, he totally fluffed it. There are points when you can see Farage tremble and even accuse the BBC of putting him in danger. 🤦‍♂️ It was for security. It was for cars. Nobody cares. It's no one's business. He won't tell us. DANGER! At one point, he let slip that the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards may 'disagree' with him on the rules around donations. He knows he's going to be found guilty on this one. He's in trouble, and his face gave it away gloriously. Top hats off to Sally Nugent. Stellar work. 👏

Great montage of Nazi content of Putin's thinking, inviting denazification of Russia needed. Maybe Russian denazifiers could invade?
Nothing special, just Putin repeating Hitler's speech word for word, justifying the war

🤬 Peskov, exactly four years ago, on February 20, 2022: "We appeal to reason! What sense would it make for Russia to attack anyone?! Russia has never attacked anyone in its entire history. Russia is the last country in Europe to even utter the word 'war.'" Four days later, Putin announced the invasion of Ukraine.

The record breaking donation to Farage party underlines once more that while he parades as a man of the people he is in fact a means to an end for the very wealthy who want to be above democracy, free of tax, regulation or accountability. For sure they will be able to buy a lot of fake news and industrial scale BS with nine million. Perhaps this will be the wake up call the media needs to do some proper scrutiny

Ukrainian poets and writers are being consistently targeted and killed by Russia as part of its attempt to terrorise and erase Ukrainian identity, culture and voices from existence. Please share @VervePoetryPres @VervePoetryFest @StAnzaPoetry @GuardianBooks @MichaelRosenYes

‘Don’t poke the Russian bear’ @Nigel_Farage’s Moscow-appeasing speech in the European Parliament. Share this wide. This is the man that appeared multiple times on Russia Today (and was paid, and was offered a show). This is the man that said the world leader he most admired was Putin. This is the man who wants to tear up human rights legislation just like Putin. This is the man who blamed the West for Russia’s Ukraine invasion. And he was ‘shocked’ that his own Leader in Wales, Nathan Gill admitted 8 charges of treasonous Russian Bribes. #ReformRussianBribes

May brings anniversaries: 8th May VE Day (or 9th), 17 May Irish National Famine Commemoration. So perhaps it's time to write an essay on the theme of anniversaries for the @FmlSjournal prize (£500, publication and acclaim await). Go on, do it! academic.oup.com/fmls/pages/…
