amazon.com/Lessons-Liberty-T… Here’s the announcement I’ve been waiting 2 years to make! On May 28th I have a new book being released by @HarperCollins entitled LESSONS IN LIBERTY--a book of patriotic self-help offering 30 life lessons from 10 extraordinary Americans. This is the book I’ve wanted to write my entire life. Amazing endorsements from @PeteHegseth, @SpencerKlavan, Richard Brookhiser, and @wil_da_beast630. A huge shoutout to the best editor around, @HannahGraceLong. I hope everyone will pre-order it now.

"Modern civics must avoid trendy traps like project-based learning. Our students and our democracy are better served if our students possess a rich battery of knowledge about our history and where American political values come from." - @JeremyAdams6 blog.acton.org/archives/1287…

“…Instead, our classrooms should be enclaves of aspiration & hives of high expectations…We must abandon the idea that an education of ease scaffolded on endless screens can ever achieve a fraction of the success of classrooms powered by traditional methods & expectations…”

“If we are to save the American way of life, that act of renewal will not take place in the halls of Congress or by way of presidential fiat. Quite simply, it must begin in the same place where it is currently imperiled: the American classroom.” blog.acton.org/archives/1287…

Every American is an heir to the blessings and privileges of the western tradition. When schools fail to teach the stories that tell of the struggles, victories, lessons, heroes, and achievements that are part of the tradition, they rob students of part of their inheritance.

This part struck me. You can adjust technology or AI to have any look, feel, or voice (even your long past grandparent) but it will always be viewed as a facsimile. And kids deserve authenticity.

Absolutely honored to be featured in @The74 this morning! Yes, our kids want an education grounded in a common humanity and a broader life unencumbered by the soft and sometimes disastrous seductions of digital life. @Beanie0597
In three decades as a high school teacher, @JeremyAdams6 has watched his students embrace smartphones, social media, online learning and now AI. But recently he’s noticed some students becoming critics of the very technologies that shaped them buff.ly/TK8jgTq

This is 🔥: “The larger point, is that the costs of ignorance have gone up—not down—in this modern era. Knowing what is true, what is dubious, and how to know the difference becomes indispensable as adults increasingly rely on bespoke sources or AI as an all-purpose answerbot.”

The Ed Reform industry promotes a constant churn of instruction, curriculum, assessment, and accountability schemes. Unfortunately, this undermines a simple approach that identifies what works to boost student learning and then persuades local policy makers to adopt those policies.

As 2025 is wrapping up, I want to reflect on the 20 books that had enormous positive impact and made me a better educator:

This is absolute 🔥 and truth from the always wise @rpondiscio. I noticed when I would do publicity for my books, often the interviewers simply assumed most American teachers were part of a mindless cabal of pseudo-Marxist America haters. Not true at all…xitter.cf/rpondiscio/status/1989…
New from yours truly. A new survey might surprise those who think our schools are hotbeds of anti-American sentiment. 62% of teachers believe schools should teach that America is “a fundamentally good country. A solid majority think schools should teach students “to be patriotic and loyal toward the U.S.” thenext30years.substack.com/…

“First came the assault on their mental health through social media, then reels eroded their attention spans, and now AI drains their capacity to ever be fully, genuinely educated.” Teachers…this article from @JeremyAdams6 is well worth the read:

"Moral drift, normative desensitization—call it what you will—is now unfolding in our schools at such a scale and speed that it marks a titanic fork in the road for the future of American education."
